The Alabama coaching staff at the time of writing:

HC: Nick Saban

OC/QB: Steve Sarkisian = Texas HC
OL: Kyle Flood = Texas
RB: Charles Huff = Marshall HC
WR: Holmon Wiggins
TE/ST: Jeff Banks = Texas

DC/ILB: Pete Golding
DL: Freddie Roach
OLB: Sal Sunseri
S: Charles Kelly
CB: Karl Scott

Currently 4 staff openings, all on the offensive side of the ball (unless Saban opts otherwise, of course).

Yep. That's probably where it originated. Then Sark offered Lanning and he declined.

Wonder if Ezell, Mortensen or Tino have any shot at TE/ST or RB? I'd guess not, as our process is generally analyst to position coach elsewhere to back to Alabama.

Ezell would technically fit that description.

Yea, but a short run at Colorado State probably isn't the standard Saban looks for

He’s at South Alabama right now as TEs coach.

I didn't realize he'd taken a job there this cycle. Good for him.

So our entire offensive analyst staff is now on field coaching at USA or Arkansas State, basically.

Hire some of the Clemson analysts. They are best at stealing signals

Coach Saban is working on it much more than meets the eye.

Is this finally the year that Lance Taylor comes home? Was RB coach / run game coordinator at ND last year. Only question is him as a recruiter.

Sounds like Sark and Texas has offered Golding a lot of money to go to Texas (according to a couple of sites). Saban supposedly is going to do everything he can to keep him, so I guess we'll see which way he goes.

ETA: And I like the idea of Panunnzio coming back. We definitely have a few spots open seeing as how he coached TE, ST, & RB when he was here.

I'd be surprised, think any past interviews for Lance were pure favors as an alumni rather than indulging in the "Bama boys" nepotism. That's Dabo's schtick.

Don't think he has the juice or connections in recruiting to replace Huff...

I do not get this golding thing

Our worst position group belonged to him, and he was average at best on gameday. After that wasn't he one of the least productive recruiters on staff ?

He must be spinning masterpieces on that whiteboard Fricken Picassos

Apparently Saban thinks he's a very smart defensive coach, that was extremely young (coaching wise) when he came here. He definitely had a learning curve, but he has now gotten over that learning curve and has a very good understanding of Saban's defense now.

As far as the LB group goes, keep in mind that Golding's previous experience was as a DB coach (and he played safety in college). He just went to the LB spot because it was needed. And last year's LB group was so bad because we were decimated at the spot. And then this year Moses was never back to his old form. Harris played ok this year, and Moody looked pretty good when he got in. Now was Moses starting all year Golding's choice, or Saban's...who knows.

But Golding's strength is the knowledge he now has in Saban's defense, and calling the plays. That is where Saban is impressed with him. And outside of the Ole Miss game, we played as well defensively as can be expected. The only team that I can think of that may have played defense better than us this year is UGA, but even that is debatable.

Ha, yeah, LSU a couple years back told the NCAA one of their position coaches was old, so they let an analyst recruit for him.
