The only reason we didnt beat BYU by 30, we couldnt touch them without a whistle. Duke got away with a call vs Arizona last night that could have turned the game around when AU got hit with a flagrant for hooking and pulling down a player. and yet Dook gets away with the very same thing. The announcers couldn't explain why that was.
IWe have to play him some way regardless of how they call it. We have Nelson, Stevenson, Reid and Diabate, all who have size enough to trouble him.

We are so fortunate to live now as Bama fans. I used to wait outside Coleman for Mark’s Madness just to miss the tournament most years. Not only does Oats have the program as a perennial top 10 team every year, but it’s an exciting brand of basketball. He’s got the team set for the foreseeable future. We will lose a lot this year but I have no doubt the team will once again be preseason top 10 and be a top 5 seed at worst.

I was there then. I remember picking up pizza and wingzone hyped for our first elite 8 just to have my day ruined

Woke up this morning thinking about the guy that sits behind me in the arena that has been dogging Mark Sears all season and all the “Bama fans” saying Sears is trash, he’s too slow, etc…get wrecked!!!
Kid is one of the hardest working players we’ve ever had at our university and just took us to our first final four ever and back to back elite eights, all while being a hometown kid that grew up dreaming about playing for Bama (not to mention was on 3 straight S16 teams). I don’t care if Duke ends up shutting him down with their length, Mark Sears is a Bama Basketball legend of legends!!

Clarifying note that didn’t belong in the same post as the last post: I still don’t want him ISO’d at the end of a half/game…run a screen or a play where he can get left or pass. But that doesn’t change what he’s done for our program!

Same. I didn’t have a great feeling against that UConn team, but thought with our 3 point shooting we could take out #1 Stanford and #5 Syracuse…which we did.

He's on Mt Rushmore. Anyone who says otherwise is a fricking idiot.

The more interesting debate is who are the other 3? I wasn’t alive during the Wimp years, so not sure I’m qualified to answer that one.

I was there too. My earliest Bama basketball memory was that Sweet 16 game against Loyola when I was 8 years old. We made, I believe one more Sweet 16 until that (first) magical Elite 8 run.
Now I get to watch these tournament games with my 16 year old son, and I have a TON of pride in our program.
All of us who were around to see the lows know how high we are riding right now. Win or lose vs. Duke, I am so happy where we are in the college basketball world. Just awesome times

We have some stars before Wimp so it would be hard to say top 4 but the era of now calls for more high scoring. Enos Whatley, Buck Johnson, Sexton, Horry, Sprewell, Herb Jones, Mcdyess, Gerald Wallace, Mo Williams, Reg King (the Mule), Leon Douglas, James Robinson, Jamichael Green. Just a few I saw on the web site.
Some only played one year and dont have the overall points that Sears has.

I grew up during the Kennedy Winston, Chuck Davis days.
Winston would have dominated in Oats system.

With the game clock winding down and needing a bucket to win, Reginald King (Reggie - The Mule) is the Bama player I want to create and muscle in a shot close to the basket - Buck Johnson is a close second.

Earnest Shelton would have been great too.

Brandon Miller is probably the most talented player we’ve ever had at Alabama. He definitely should be on the list. Ronald Steel was another guy who would’ve been great but injuries ruined his career.

Eddie Phillips should be mentioned in this discussion. Not top four but worthy of recognition.

T.R. Dunn would be top four defensively. Also not sure anyone mentioned Anthony Murray.
