For the love of all things holy build Nate a new Basketball Arena with a solid gold private shitter in his water closet.

It’s not going to get any cheaper

Build it, and make it at least 12,000!! We aren’t the Barn and don’t need a tiny arena! Fan base is growing!

Can never seem to get the donor interest for the huge bill

The last rumor I heard was that the University and City of Tuscaloosa were going to make the arena a joint venture.

Just invest in silver on the interim.

Duke has a small arena, as does baylor.

Nothing less than 12000. When you are making a new arena once in 60 years get your moneys worth. Don’t skimp.

I think the joint venture with the city is the way.
I also think fans value a new arena more than Nate does. As long as amenities for players and NIL remain competitive, I think he’s happy

Don’t these somewhat go hand in hand? You’ve got to have solid fan support to be competitive in NIL. An arena would go a long way in showing the university is serious about basketball and could lead to more fan donations to collectives and big money NIL contributors.

And are half the enrollment of Bama. That’s the point.
Want to grow the fanbase? Make sure enough students can get into the games and don’t price out all casual fans from the arena.

I understand the fundraising and all is going well. Oats would not have signed a new contract if he was not satisfied with things.
Even Greg B commented on things. And by the way would something have to be torn down to build the new one?

The proposed location for the new arena near campus drive at the edge of the Old Bryce Campus is a good spot for facility that could also be used to host events for the city. Right next to US-82...lots of ways to direct traffic onto US-82 W/E and also AL-215 (University Blvd) for those who want to get to US-11 or I-20/59.
Additional benefit: this location is basically just a landfill for demolition work and a motor pool for construction contractor's employees.

Put the blue hairs half way up and the students on the floor, imo

Build US a nice basketball arena. We've been around longer than Nate.

That's the problem though. If this gets done, it is going to involve primo real estate getting handed to corporate and individual donors that will not show up to middling games and never be a huge impact on the atmosphere the opponent must enjoy.
One of the reason college basketball is what it is, is because it was never wholly sold out to monied interests like college football. The best schools in the sport largely had a good enough arena already and don't have to put their hands out for funding quite the same way. That allows their venue to be for the students instead of some old fart or their business that cut the check to make it happen.

I dont know what the fix is but we need a fix. No reason we shouldn’t have an andvantagous environment now with what Oats has built and is building.
