I agree but he seems like a guy who makes plays. We've had some guys who flex between RB and WR. Christion Jones comes to mind. I'd take that.

The only position that I came out of that A-day game fretting over was LT. Pritchett got abused all day by basically our second team edge rushers with Turner and Braswell being out. I can't imagine what they would've done to him. Luckily Proctor looked like a mountain of a man out there. If today is any indication, I'm expecting Proctor to take the LT by the time September rolls around.
I'm not fretting about the QBs...yet. They both showed that they have the talent to be really good college QBs, they just need to work on consistency. I wish they would've let Simpson throw to the 1st team WRs because he had several drive killing drops that worked against him (and Burton showed why he was with the 2s today).

This is what I was saying all day? How is it a competition for the starting spot if both guys don’t get a shot with the starters. I haven’t re watched the game yet and the first throw to burton was at the other end zone, but it certainly looked to me like the throw was there and burton kind of slowed and restarted on it. I went into today with a very open mind to Jalen having really improved as a passer, and earning that first team spot; what I saw was the same guy as last year. He has the arm to push the ball, but he consistently has WTF moments. Ty wasn’t a world beater, but I certainly think with more live speed reps, his upside as a passer, is far greater.

I agree with you. Pritchett would have been the main topic had Dallas Turner, Braswell and the two freshman studs been in the lineup today. Proctor is a beast. Pritchett needs to have a great summer or he will lose his job. Also agree on Ty getting more first team reps.

Yeah the idea that Miller would leave is asinine. He’s firmly in the rotation. You have to have quality depth in the SEC. People need to remember when we had basically no one left after injuries in 2021.

I don't want to see him out there over any of the freshmen from last year. He should not be in the top 5 WRs.

Next year will be Haynes And Miller show. They're not going anywhere.
Man I hope so...an earlier post suggested Roydell Williams may be the one who shops not Miller. That actually makes even more sense because he's probably the least talented of the four really talented backs AND he's a senior with a COVID year in his pocket. He probably needs to go somewhere and start for 1 or 2 years or he won't make an NFL roster.

How many drops yesterday. I recall at least 3. Burton had a big drop. I think 17 had one that was a clear first down.

It was bad enough that Saban mentioned it on the sidelines after the game with Jordan Palmer. Apparently they had a great spring and dropped more passes in the game today than in the 15 practices combined.

I hope he proves me wrong, but I've seen enough of roydell williams tripping over his own feet or his lineman's feet in short yardage situations. Same thing for Jermaine Burton dropping passes. I've seen enough of that shite to know that it ain't ever gonna be what it needs to be. There have to be better options.

My take on QB play at A-day
Nobody said this job is mine.
Jalen had some really good throws and some that were really bad. He locked in on the WR he wanted before the snap far too many times. The 4-for-4 series he had with MB should not even be considered when evaluating his day. If you go back and watch that series, he locked in on MB when they lined up for the first play and never looked at another WR. MB was going up against a walk-on CB that had no chance of hanging with him and Milroe knew it. Milroe never looked like he had learned how to read the defense and make adjustments. His passing in general was not particularly accurate.
Ty also had some very good and some very bad plays. He did appear to be better at reading the defense and going through progressions/adjustments. His delivery was a bit too slow. His accuracy was a little better than Jalen but neither of them looked like they have learned to throw a WR open. Case in point the fantastic int by Little. Had Ty thrown the ball 12 inches higher and 24 inches further toward the sideline the WR would have followed it away from the DB for a touchdown. Ty also did not adjust well to the different speeds of his WR's. That can only come from time on the field together over the summer.
If you take the 4-for-4 series out for Milroe and the 2 or 3 bad drops by #3 for Ty, Ty had the better day overall. But you cannot take plays out. Neither of then are ready for prime time. It is a good thing they both have about 125 days to get better at their craft.
Milroe needs to learn to read, adjust and improve his accuracy. Ty needs to relax in the pocket and learn to throw guys open. If neither can make those improvements, Milroe's ability to run will give him the lead. Milroe's legs can win us 8 to 10 games but will not win us another championship.

IMO, I think Ty is the answer at QB. Milroe looks almost exactly the same as last year. The int out of the end zone was worse than a terrible decision. It felt like Ty was willing to take what the defense gives him while Milroe was trying for a big play.
Burton reminds me of Metchie. If Metchie had his hands chopped off. He's always open but couldn't catch a cold in a snow storm. He had as many drops as every other WR combined.
I really like what I'm seeing from Rees. He's getting everyone involved and it looks like there is always someone open.

On a few plays i saw him pat the ball before he threw it and it was a little late. Gotta clean that bad habit up a little.
And Milroe still gets happy feet sometimes too. Better than last year though.
Both are signs of inexperienced QB play.
Suprisingly, I thought Lonergan showed good poise for a true freshman. He seems like a natural and confident thrower. If he doesn't stick around here I could see him being a good player somewhere smaller.
