Thank you and I'm glad that he does it. I love seeing the message board trolls squirm.

If Saban says no then TVD whole strategy to gain financially just got bitched slapped. That’s the part I don’t get.

Pretty sure Saban openly commenting on a player currently enrolled at another school and not in the transfer portal having a green light or not to come to Bama would be considered tampering.

Well not behind the scenes. I would think Saban and Cristobal would talk privately about it.

Saban is not concerned with the rumor mills on random recruiting massage boards, or assuaging fans that are concerned about the roster and transfer portal

There’s no doubt about that. I was just curious how TVD could use Bama to get a raise. When all Cristobal would have to do is call Saban to see if there’s interest without making it public

The kid doesn’t have to convince Mario there’s mutual interest with Bama, he has to convince Miami boosters there’s mutual interest. All that takes is some well placed “reports” on a few message boards and let the fan hysteria and social media do the rest. Someone will likely cut a check before Mario even picks up the phone

I don't ever see this happening. It would be a great Convo though.

"Hey coach, are your boosters trying to recruit my kid who isn't in the transfer portal with NIL?"

"Definitely Mario, let me email you the numbers and paperwork, I think they have a deal that will knock his socks off. You are going to love some of the incentives."

I’ll sweeten the pot, I’ll throw in two 4star db’s and a middle linebacker that’s on the fence.

Well it's beyond message boards now. The Miami Herald is reporting it now.

LINK

Another rumor is Ohio State is trying to poach FSU's QB. It's a new day.

With college players having agents and some agents representing coaches and players this sort of thing will really get shady.

Saban's presser just now:

quote:

Saban on the QBs: "We have confidence in the guys we have in the program. They've worked hard all spring. ... I'm confident in the guys that we have. I'm confident they're going to work hard and be dedicated and committed to continuing to improve."

Potter Tweet

Also:

quote:

Saban: "We're gonna have quite a few guys that won't participate in this game."

That's a bummer, but nothing new.

What I find interesting this year is the amount of people on this board saying, "we'll know who the better QB is after the spring game," when in the recent past it was, "lol, you're basing your opinion off of play from A-day?"

There's even less insight to gain if a bunch of starters will be out. As always will look forward to seeing the young guys play, though.

We did that with Jalen, lol. He barely threw for 2K yards in 2017 and only attempted 250 passes, he ran it 160 times. Probably 500 of those passing yards were pop passes

The entire reason Tua replaced him was Auburn, Clemson, and then Georgia in that order made it necessary after what we were seeing with a heavy runner type offense. We fricking sucked

Watching Milroe against A&M last year was like watching it all over again. Which is why I’m very hopeful he’s improved if Simpson isn’t ready

Bama has always altered offensive style to compliment the QB more but the core system is always there. Even with Hurts we didn’t go full throttle hurry up. I’m talking Gus Bus fast and fully committing to the read option.

We saw it with Sims vs Mizzou a bit in 2014 and we definitely did it some with Hurts but a lot of the rushing yards from Jalen his first two seasons were one read and take off. There were definitely some big runs on QB reads tho.

Tbf I was really just joking around. Bama’s offensive system is elite. I don’t really want to go 2014 Auburn. Just talking hypothetically with Milroe. You need a passing game to win it all.

I rewatched the AM game before the scrimmage last week. Just wanted to get a feel. Yes the fumbles were bad, he had the Yipps. Some of his passes were super tight windows. The first touchdown pass to Latu was a freaking missile. The Read to Burton was dead on. The interception after was him simply throwing into coverage not sure why he let that one go. The pass over the middle to Brooks took patience and him waiting him open, pass was good.

Long story short he had the potential even then and in my opinion is improved now. If you sprinkle in the fact he can run like a deer we might have something here.

Some SI write ups from yesterday’s press conference

Everything Nick Saban Said in his Final Press Conference before A-Day

Saban met with reporters one final time ahead of the Crimson Tide's final scrimmage of the 2023 spring practice season.

How Nick Saban Views Spring Transfer Portal Window

College football players have a two-week window from April 15 to April 30 to enter the transfer portal with three Crimson Tide players already joining since it opened.

Previewing the 2023 A-Day Scrimmage Game (SI)

With so much turnover among both players and coaches for the Crimson Tide this offseason, there's a lot to look out for in Saturday's open scrimmage.

Interesting saying that the way they split things up means you may not be able to tell who all the starters are by just looking at the roster

Also didn't know they do a draft for spring. Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying but if they're actually letting the coaches pick who they want and draft players, coaches, etc...to the Crimson/White rosters, then that's actually pretty cool. Is that how it's always been or is this a new development?

Hasn’t crimson offense and white defense usually been 1st string?

I just listened to the presser and it sounds like the staff was drafted, not the players. So now there's something on the line for the staff as some will get steak and some will get beans
