maybe they are betting that the alabama at contracts end, wont be the alabama of today and bama will not have near as strong of a negotiating platform.

Maybe, but that’s sort of silly for two reasons. One, Saban shows no signs of slowing down and even if he does retire in say 3 years, our roster will be so loaded that the next coach will be set up for at least 2-3 years of elite play after Saban leaves (see Les Miles at LSU.) Bottom line, we should be damn good in 2025 regardless. Secondly, like Notre Dame, Alabama is a national brand. Even in down years we will pull in viewers and thus revenue. Just a dumb move by Nike all the way around.

I hope our AD remembers this in 2025 and either gives Nike the finger or bends them over for the most rediculously lucrative contract in sports history.

There is pretty much zero chance that Alabama's brand will be worth what it is right now after that amazing season and championship.

Nike has absolutely nothing to gain by negotiating with Alabama right now. Honestly, they'd be stupid to do it.

But yeah, I hope we tell them to go to hell 4 years from now.

Bama's brand might be worth more in 4 years.

It would be very short-sighted for Nike to not play ball with us right now. Between Under Armour and Adidas, there are competitors that would likely love to have our brand. I’m no lawyer, but assuming we’re at least as valuable as Ohio St or Texas, a little under 2 years seemingly would net enough to buy our way out of Nike.

Just seems stupid in the long run and risk us walking to not renegotiate.

I’ll hang up and listen

I hope that you are right, but just playing the odds, there is no way. Saban might still be coaching us, so that would unequivocally help

God I hope not.

Eta and screw you Battle. 5 mil a year is laughable. And why was the deal done “in secret?”

Under Armor is terrible. Never liked them. Adidas is a good option but choices seem to be limited to just these 3 companies now. Russell Athletics was very good at some point but they are out of the game seems like.

Don't be surprised if we switch to the Jordan brand once this contract is up.

Kids love that brand.

That ain't Nikes fault. That was another company that took the airmaxs and partnered with lil Nas x.

Also, frick it. let's go Starter. Bringing the 90s starter jackets back. Miami who?

Guess Bama is losing Shy Carter as a GA for at least a little bit, tried out and was signed to the roster after Houston Texan's rookie minicamp.

Their whole organization needs help.
Jack Easterby did more to hurt them than help them since he’s been there.

Why Skyler DeLong is Set for a Better Career than JK Scott? - Stephen Smith

quote:

Touchdown Alabama

John Kimball "JK" Scott will be remembered as unarguably the best punter in Alabama football and possibly in college football; however, true freshman Skyler Delong has an opportunity to put better numbers. Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine dives into why this fall could be big for Delong.
