Jeudy,Ruggs, and Smitty combined for 36 catches in 14 ballgames their freshman year. How did that turn out?

True, but many of those 36 were big catches. Lots of TDs and two game winners from Smith.

That class (followed by Waddle the next year) was ridiculously ridiculous.

I’m probably in the minority but I like Slade. He wasn’t 100% last year and each catch is like water drop torture for some of our LSU brothers.

Slade is fine. He's not those guys but he's a solid receiver. If he is our #1 that's probably not a good thing for us, but he absolutely can be productive as a starter.

Bingo...that bunch of Loseranna State fans make it impossible to have a conversation. I assume at lease 6 of them have to be paid by the site since 90% of their threads are total bullshite.

Bolden has one very big catch in the Ohio St champ game. He has a sliding just off the grass catch for a TD. Wasnt it 3rd down?

Saban has to rate a player very high to allow them to run the wildcat and Slade did it as a freshman. I don't understand the lack of faith in him.

Seems Bolden had an earlier catch where he was in the end zone and came back to catch the ball - unfortunately he (and the ball) landed just short of the end zone (no TD).. I really see him as an Edelman type player... can run the wildcat, can throw a half back option pass, can run from various formations and of course can man the slot. If he can perfect his routes and "always be open" this season, he should find himself in the league after he '22 draft 4sho

I get Slade has become a forum favorite and a relative of his posts here but if we are depending on him as a top contributor we're not winning a championship.

We need one of these young speed demons to step up and give us big plays opposite of Metchie.

We're not dealing with a fifth year starter we have a young guy with a lot of talent but will need help too.

We've got Metchie, Williams and Bolden plus Billingsley with good experience. Jones-Bell, Hall, Leary and Earle are all fast, with quick burst and elusiveness. And Baker, Holden and Brooks have good long speed. We should be fine.

N'all, he gets way more criticism around here than he deserves in reality.

Well tell Saban that, because he brought that exact point up as something which was a concern and a need

Saban wasn't implying we don't have fast WRs on our roster. He was sending our young speedsters a message that we need them -- to learn our offense and get their asses ready to play well.

.... which is exactly my point.

Hopefully Jojo can come in and meet the demand.
