There was a few posts on BOL about us adding a few more strength coaches from indiana. Looks like our entire strength program is getting an overhaul. Probably one of the selling points when they were hired along with the sports science facility. The Indiana fans aren't too fond of us poaching all of their strength staff though, which is understandable

I think they'll 100% be helped land on their feet if not retained, which there are several spot official and unofficial on a strength staff.

I learned the other day of another former player who is now an assistant S&C Coach at Mississippi State, Alex Watkins.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, but a poster on RBR with the username "jrb3" said the following:

quote:

Friend’s kid is on the team. The kid said his trainer was gone yesterday as were most of the others. Said the new guys were ripped. Thought the Cochran workouts were easy. Said Friday was the hardest workout yet. These boys about to get stout

ETA: At least two new strength coaches from Indiana: Paul Constantine (LINK ) and Matt Clapp (LINK )

Nice find! I read on the Indiana board that ballou was excellent at getting everything out of the kids hes training. Said he knew how to break them down on a daily basis but yet would have them coming back the next day motivated and hungry to do it again

The indiana board is saying the other strength coach, Danison, will most likely be headed here also if he doesn't get the head S&C job there

I really think Alabama upgraded big time with the new hires. Hopefully we'll see the benefits this upcoming season.

Nick Saban's New Philosophy (Late Kick Cut) (youtube)

"Greetings BOL. Last night we talked about the bigger picture of Nick Saban's ability to adapt and how it relates to the Zenitz and Talty story yesterday. I didn't personally have a strong reaction to Scott Cochran leaving Alabama last week, mainly because the people I trust had indicated for quite a while there was a growing divide between the value some fans/media placed on him versus folks inside the program. What I'm NOT saying: Scott Cochran was worthless. Scott Cochran will suck at UGA. Scott Cochran was run out of town. What I AM saying: Alabama is more than pleased with the way this turned out, and for the record I think UGA/Bama will both look like winners coming out of this deal in the near future." -- Josh Pate

Have to think that offensive line will be a major strength of the team this year. Lots of experience and quality depth coming back. That will be important with a new QB and the great group of running backs.

Same way last year but had issues with getting some short yards when we needed it.

Looking back, wonder how much of that was S&C?

I have to agree.

Not so sure about that, especially in September vs USC and GA.

I'm in the same boat about the defense also. I was blaming golding but I really think we lost our edge physically the last 2 years on defense. Now that this whole S&C fiasco has me second guessing blaming golding. We definitely lost the bama factor last year. Games we usually dominate were hard to watch because teams were punching us in the mouth and we weren't able to do anything about it
