Ben Simmons this season is sitting at 8.1 in 4th place as a rookie and that's pretty high for a rookie.

He also had a redshirt year and his comfort in the offense is significantly higher than your avg rookie. Plus, #TrustTheProcess is legit

I could see Sexton having something like 6-7.5 a game maybe.

As I said above, I'd expect Sexton to find success in a similar manner to Kemba Walker. Walker's rookie season was 12ppg 5apg Sophomore 17ppg 6apg and continued improvement as his 3FG got better

Their college profiles were remarkably similar both near identical statistically + their strengths in explosion + getting into the lane

True. I TTP, Simmons is the man.

I agree. I don't think Sexton would crack 6 APG as a rookie, but I do see it maybe happening depending on the team.

I hadn’t thought of him but that’s actually a pretty good comparison.

2 of Sexton's most similar stat line players this past year were

- 2017 D'Aaron Fox

- 2002 Dajuan Wagner

Fox's stat line this year is 11.4 PPG/4.3 APG/11.22 PER. However, since January 1 (last 40 games) he is at 12.8 PPG/4.8 APG.

I could definitely see Collin looking like that in Year 1.

I don’t want Sexton to come back for his own sake. Too much of risk for him.

A good poster on TI said he’s 60/40 leaning towards the NBA. He’s really struggling with his decision, but he’s expected to announce this week one way or another

Kid has too much Bama in him now it seems. I mean, fumbling with the decision to go make millions of dollars @ 19 years old, or stay for another year at the college he's at, on scholarship, with a modest at best stipend. The University of Alabama must be pretty kick-arse.

I know it's isn't right, but if he were my kid, I'd be pushing like hell for the NBA. I wouldn't want his money, I'd just hate for him to suffer a serious injury and jeopardize his future.

Um, you would be doing the right thing by pushing him to the NBA. The guaranteed money for the last pick in the first round for a 3 year contract is more than the expected lifetime earnings of someone who holds a masters degree and about equal to a Phd. Only MDs, JDs, and Engineers usually make more, and again that is over a lifetime.

The wrong thing is what I'm doing which is selfishly hoping he comes back for my own fan interest.

If he comes back and then we go directly from him to Watford in 2019 it would really establish us as a consistent program.

Athletes have taken out insurance policies in the past to protect their value against injuries. I wonder if that's possible for Colin?

I might have the years wrong, but I think a new CBA will be agreed on before next year's class gets to their 2nd contract. Meaning there is a good chance staying in school could make him more money due to the timing of his 2nd contract.

He likely already has it. Here are a couple of articles on it. The second has some quotes from Coch Saban.

Apparently, like all insurance, it is a pain in the arse to collect on. Unless it is career ending they are likely to fight you tooth and nail. Knowing insurance companies they will likely fight you regardless.

@lion

Unless I'm reading it wrong or could not find updated info, the NBA and NBAPA renegotiated at the end of 2016 for a new CBA with the first opt out coming in 2023-24. So I think that would be beyond his rookie deal even if he stays.

Yeah, you don't want to bank on that. Just go pro and get the cash ASAP.

The problem is that you need to prove that your drop in value is directly related to an injury that you have no prior history of having

This insurance has a limited market and pays a massive sum on something that is a somewhat high frequency event (loss in draft value)

The major issuue for a company is that their statutory reserves required for a policy like this would be huge relative to policy premium

Why are you explaining insurance in the same legalese, hard to understand way insurance companies do. You are evil in so many ways.

Translations:

quote:

The problem is that you need to prove that your drop in value is directly related to an injury that you have no prior history of having

Dog, The problem is it has to be a completely new injury, nothing associated with a past injury for you to get paid man.

quote:

This insurance has a limited market and pays a massive sum on something that is a somewhat high frequency event (loss in draft value)

Bruh, there are only a few guys good enough who qualify for this insurance and the payout is related to draft stock and injuries. You know athletes fall in the draft and/or get hurt all the time. Embid, Noel, Simmons all then guys getting hurt my dude.

quote:

The major issuue for a company is that their statutory reserves required for a policy like this would be huge relative to policy premium

So if they have to payout they are going to lose a lot of money because not that many athletes pay into it, but the payouts crazy money, millions.

In closing, if you started talking at a party I would walk away from you in mid-sentence.

ETA: J/K by the way. I reread this and it came off extra salty
