No. It just gives him up until about 10 days before the draft to change his mind.

Many sources thus morning saying he’ll enter the draft, possibly won’t sign with an agent right away, but is expected to stay in the draft

If he doesn't hire an agent, does that give him the ability to come back to school if he doesn't go where he wanted in the draft?

No, this isn't baseball or hockey.

If you don't sign with an agent, here are the key dates

The process more or less goes

- April 22- Early Entry Draft Eligibility Deadline
(declare date)
- May 15 - NBA Lotto Draft Order
- May 16-20- NBA Combine
- June 11 - Early Entry Withdrawal Deadline

- June 21 - NBA Draft

but is expected to stay in the draft

This is the smart way to do it if they don't need an agent to front expenses to prepare/participate in draft process

A perfect storm of bad events outside Sexton's control could happen to cause a good player to unfairly fall in the draft. Not signing with an agent hedges against it

As in

- Very Suboptimal draft order (his best case draft slots filled with teams who don't need PGs)
- Get sick and/or banged up during combine/private workouts cause stock to drop
- NBA scouts give him a lower grade than he hoped + recommended returning to school for higher grade
- Other unexpected events

In my gut it feels like one of those scenes from a movie or tv show where you are being mean to someone or something you love to get it to leave because that is what's best for it.

"Go on, Colin, get! No one wants you around here anyways"

We love you, #2

I know that feeling well. Despite hating the Lakers as a Suns fan, I was extremely happy about Steve Nash getting traded to the Lakers so he could try to win a championship.

Right now got the same thing going on with Larry Fitzgerald. It looks like Fitz has accepted never winning a Super Bowl and values a career exclusively with the Cards. The guy loves being the lovable superstar of Phoenix

This is like that scene in Air Bud when he tries to get the dog to leave.

Collin is gonna leave. All of the news people are saying he’s expected to possibly go and not sign at first, but then stay in the draft in the end. That’s what he SHOULD do tbh. I’m gonna miss him, but I’m happy for him!

I'm gonna hold out hope until the bitter end. I know he's gone, but a guy can dream can't he?

My sources confirm that Sexton did indeed have a press conference to announce he is declaring.

Sure, and it isn't total fantasy. Gene covered it perfectly earlier. Sexton's chosen a very wise path that leaves the door to return open should something highly unlikely happen at or around the combine.

Honestly, for Sextons sake I hope the unlikely DOESN'T happen. He's been nothing but great for Bama on and off the floor this year and I'd love to see him reap rewards for it. But I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't happy that he didn't sign with an agent.

he’s going to sign with one tho. He said he’s just looking for the right one. He didn’t say he’s just gonna go trough the draft process and see how it goes, he said “I’m going to the NBA”. He’s not coming back
