Illustrating why recruiting rankings are a complete joke and paying attention to them is fricking stupid.

Considered top 20 prospect for 6 months.
Have 4 up and down days of drills.
No longer an elite prospect.

It's laughable. If they both have good senior seasons they will move right back up.

It's a fickle situation with the fascination with 24/7. Sure, they are by far the fasting updating service, and makes Rivals/ESPN/Scout look slow. Though when you live by that and change constantly because of camps, there is gonna be some inaccuracies. You live and die by it, you might end up moving as many people back to where they were as you are moving players up.

Rankings are by no means finite at any point through the season, but you might be going a bit too fast with being "the most up to date". Rivals can come to the same conclusion as 247, but they don't have to go through 2-3 changes in the same span to do so. I'm not sure a changing by individual is the best way to do it either, because I don't believe they have a guy who has seen everything at that position to determine something that fast. I would believe with how delayed in comparison the other sites do it, they have some sort of brain trust meeting.

It's 247 right to do so though and they are pretty good at it. If they think someone is way better than everything else, move him up as high as they want. They may end up moving him back, but they will eventually end up in the right ballpark with a prospect...

ETA: Not really a rankings guy regardless.

We've contacted former Texas QB Connor Brewer: LINK

Speaking to the Arizona Republic, Connor Brewer listed the Irish and the Tide as two of the handful of programs who have contacted him over the past 24 hours. It was reported Tuesday that the redshirt freshman quarterback would be leaving Texas and transferring to another school.

Losing Gerry Hamilton is gonna hurt them on the scouting/rankings side as well. He was one of their better analysts without a doubt.

It's like they have completely written off all 3 of the freshmen already. I guess it's the assumption that 2 of those 3 will inevitably transfer when they fall behind on the depth chart.

That's pretty interesting to say the least, they did offer him out of high school. Though didn't a USCw RB transfer get outed saying Bama had contacted him too to pad his "resume"?

Arizona seems to be transfer QB U recently, snagging that title from Ole Miss..

He dropped 15 spots. Most of that can be attributed to other guys moving up due to strong camp performances.

Don't Patton

Don't

And I'll also add with the newest re-rankings it's no surprise how well some of these guys have done that Bama got on early before the dominant camp performances and just proves how hard and dedicated Mario Cristobal has been to signing the best damn group of OL...just absolutely busting his arse

I thought I would drop a little inside info for you to chew on Bucs. Alabama will have 8 or 10 more guys decide to cast their lots with the tide by February.

Hey all.

AJC interview with Jacob Park:

quote:

Why did you commit to UGA? “It was different. Coach Richt and Coach Bobo didn’t hassle me. They didn’t call me every day. They sent me letters. They didn’t send me a million letters like everybody else. But when they did, it was a letter that meant something. I went on a visit there, and it came down to Georgia and Alabama. Alabama was being wishy-washy. Coach Bobo told me ‘I sent two offers out this year, you and Deshaun Watson. I’m not going to offer anybody else until you make a decision.’ I took that to mean that he liked me a lot. Everything fell together after that. All my friends are Georgia fans. My brother is the biggest Georgia fan that you will ever know.”

Alabama was wishy-washy? “I don’t know. They told me they wanted to take two quarterbacks. I don’t know if that is true. I don’t know if they’re taking two quarterbacks. I know (David) Cornwell is going there. I don’t know. I just figured if they were taking two, if they were telling me the truth or not, Georgia said they were taking one quarterback. When you come to down to two schools like that, and they are that close, why go with someone who is taking two when Georgia just wants one?”

You said committed to UGA over Alabama, and that happened on the afternoon of June 14. Around 30 minutes later that same day, another quarterback, David Cornwell, committed to Alabama. There were some Alabama reports that claimed you didn’t have an Alabama offer. What about that? “Yes, I had an Alabama offer. For about two weeks, I talked to Coach Saban almost every day. He was talking to me about “How do I feel about them? Did I care if they took two quarterbacks?' And all that stuff. It seemed like right after I committed, then Cornwell committed. I mean, I don’t know. I don’t look into it much. I’m going to Georgia, and I’m not really worried about Alabama anymore.”

What was it like being recruited by a legend like Nick Saban? How would you describe that experience? “It was cool. It was nice to meet him and everything. But I don’t see him any higher than Coach Richt. He’s just another person. After I looked it into more, he doesn’t have a real good history of putting quarterbacks in the league. I think I made the right decision with Georgia.”

Sounds like we couldn't make up our mind between Park and Cornwell so we were trying to fanagle both of them. Park wasn't having it, committed to UGA, and we took Cornwell. It'll be interesting to see who winds up having the better career.

Sounds to me like they were trying to get Park to commit knowing Cornwell was already committed.
