You tell me what is wrong. Herb and Reese aren't holding out for the draft..

Petty holding out for the draft had zero affect on anything. The dude wants to be in the nba, like every other college player. He was right on the border of getting guaranteed money. He waited to see if he had a good shot, like anyone would do, and like I'm sure Oats wanted him to do. He could have bailed and stayed in the draft. He would have gotten paid to play somewhere, even if he ended up in the G league for a while. But he came back to try to get better and he's putting as much effort into it as anyone. I don't get all the flack he catches.

IMHO: Josh Moon is one of the worst journalists that I have ever had the misfortune to read. He is profoundly stupid. Never assign credibility to anything that he writes.

I went back and wat he’d Oats post game press conference and one of his answers intrigued me....

He praised Alex Reese for his attitude and then said “He has been what we are looking for out of our seniors”

Sounds like a message to Petty IMO

He's not an al.com reporter. He works for "Alabama Political Reporter." Whatever that is.

Petty doesn't have an NBA future...too slow, no NBA level quickness, no aggressive attitude...just to name a few.

What’s y’all guess for conference play?

Right Now I’m guessing we go 7-11

I'm a bit optimistic that shooting will improve to some degree and there's so many SEC teams that don't look any better than we do so far. I think 10-8

The league isn’t very good at all. Tennessee and everyone else. Missouri has had a great start. LSU will be talented. Outside of that it’s a lot of meh.

Moon doesn't work for al.com.

He couldn't even keep a job with the Montgomery Advertiser.

He now works at a group called Alabama Political Reporter, which initially existed to promote Milton McGregor's gambling interests. Heck, his personal attorney used to be on a syndicated TV show they did.

I get why everyone is frustrated with Petty. The guy does hustle on the court and does play good D. But for a 5 star 2 time Mr. Basketball, he’s been a bit of a bust. Bust may be too strong of a word, but he hasn’t lived up to his hype, there were tales of him being a locker room malcontent under Avery and there’s definitely no leadership from him. I expect more from a player with his billing.
And this is just my personal observations and feelings but I felt a definite jealousy vibe between Petty and Colin when he was here. I wonder if that has resurfaced with some of the new faces we have that are outplaying him right now. Downvote the hell out of me as most of you seem to be doing to defend him but John Petty is not a team player.

I don’t think it’s fair to get on the kids effort, or attitude, or how he is in the locker room because there’s no way to truly know any of that, other than the fact that Oats has now sit him twice. And maybe that was just meant to a motivator, an attention getter. I mean if he was that bad in the locker room, why would Oats have held a spot for him?

Now if you are strictly talking on court, then yeah Perry’s career has to be looked at as disappointing. He was a supposed one and done and as good as Sexton when he signed. First two years were underwhelming. Last year, he was great. Looked like he turned a corner. But he’s been straight up awful this year.
