They don’t. The whole “we are taking our ball and going home” deal was as much about separating themselves athletically like they are academically as anything else. It’s like these 1A schools that exist in 10k population counties in Alabama. They mostly exist so their kids can get on the field because they’d get a better education just getting bussed over to the bigger county school.
There is more to it than that. I remember a few girls getting switched to the smaller schools as soon as they showed too much interest in black boys.
I digress, the separation is because they want their nepobabies to get to play college athletics instead of being resigned to club and rec leagues like they would at big state Us that are trying to earnestly compete for championships.

That's certainly my understanding as well, which in fairness to them, I guess that makes sense.

Right, it is more important to these Ivy League school’s alumnus that their descendants get to have this closed, elite experience where they join secret societies/rub elbows with other elite scion, get educated by respected professors, and participate in clubs and school-sponsored athletics.

They'd rather spend their millions on their own kids instead of some basketball mercenary. Maybe those ivy league schools taught them a thing or two about wealth.

Just saw San Antonio's coach call a timeout after a 4 point NY run and after 2 turnovers while up 21. Wemby isn't the only reason those bastards are lucky.

A few thoughts about the NBA game.
The Spurs willed a loss that game late.
At the same time, they were a bit unlucky. Wemby must have had like 10 tip-in tries that all seemed to roll around the rim and go out in the 2nd half.
And the Knicks got as hot in the 2nd half as the Spurs were in the 1st half.
Somehow, the commentators didn't even comment on the boneheaded play by Fox with like 9 seconds left. All he had to do was hold on to the ball and make them foul him. LOL at the lack of situational awareness. He gets the foul shots, hits them, and they're up 3. The game likely would have still been lost in overtime after Brunson threw something up from 35 feet that would have gone in to tie it no matter how off-balanced he would have been or how good the defense would have been. There wasn't a single chance in this world that the Knicks weren't going to score there at the end regardless of the situation. The energy was going to will the ball in no matter what they did... almost supernaturally.

He looked serviceable last year in the two games. Plenty of size and he didnt seem like one of these new age centers that wants to float back to the 3 point line.

Great news, and not even the basketball aspect. That's gotta be scary to be that young and athletic, but have a severe heart condition. Glad they've been able to treat it, because they were pretty quiet on the specifics.
