I don't understand why some posters here insist it has to be all-or-nothing with Milroe. Drives me crazy.
I have absolutely no inside knowledge, but here's my opinion on what happened:
Milroe played a big role in keeping the team together during the coaching transition, and because of that (and his experience from 2023) he earned the starting job in 2024. Frankly I was hoping Simpson would win it, and said so on here, but I hoped Jalen would take the next step in his development in 2024.
Then we played Georgia. After that game, it looked like he was a shoo-in for the Heisman and likely to be the number one pick in the draft. He did everything exactly right in the first half, and did enough in the second half to both win the game and make everyone very confident in the QB position.
Little did anyone know that would be the high point of the season, and he would regress significantly after that. Decision-making, leadership, the ability to run the offense ... all dropped off a cliff for him. I don't know what happened, or what prevented DeBoer from subbing in Simpson and/or Mack when it was obvious Jalen was struggling against Tennessee and Oklahoma. But I have no trouble believing multiple skill players would have transferred after the season if he'd stuck around, because nobody had any confidence in him after the Michigan game (and likely before).
So it's very possible he made everyone believers and then completely lost them in the space of eight or nine weeks, because it definitely happened with me. It's not an either/or scenario -- it was both.

Interesting. I was told the only reason Milroe started last year was because he kept the team together. I was also told the reason for the poor performance in the 2023 South Carolina game was because the team didn't want to play without Milroe as the starter.
Someone is coming up with bullshite and it sounds like it's the sunshine pumpers on this board.

All these years later I’m still trying to figure out how this obvious barner troll hasn’t been banned. WTF

Offense wasn't really the problem in the Vandy game. The defence couldn't stop a sneeze. I mean you never truly stop a sneeze, but...

I don't want to pump sunshine, so I will just be honest. You suck as a poster. You are a tired horse with the negative Nancy then, "I'm not a sunshine pumper schtick." It's like you have a permanent 14 y/o brain.

Have yall watched videos of Ryan Williams running routes and being open 2-3 times a route and the ball being way late?
Yes and Williams could have absolutely CASHED IN had he left. Milroe started off looking better, then just regressed.
I didn’t think Jalen would pan out as a NFL QB and very happy to admit I was wrong. I wish #4 all the best but glad we’re turning the page.

I made this comment after the Mizzou game. I was there and noticed every ball he threw in warmups no matter the distance had a lot of velocity on it.

I wish Jalen Milroe the best in the NFL and TRULY HOPE he succeeds. It only looks good for Alabama so why wouldn't we want him to succeed?
However, as it pertains to his time at Alabama, I just don't think his style was the best fit for what Saban or DeBoer wanted to do offensively and it showed. I'm not going into all the alleged locker room dynamics or antics because it doesn't do any good. His lack of development is what ultimately killed us at the QB position, and if he's going to make it in the NFL, he's going to HAVE TO get with someone who can make the light come on in the areas that caused him so many problems on the college level.

Jermaine Burton got Ty Simpson to throw at his pro day rather than Milroe. A lot of the pro scouts took notice of that. Simpson throws a more consistent ball than Milroe. Hence, Burton getting him to throw to him at his pro day over Milroe.

Pretty telling . Did not know that

Oh he tried. Nobody of significance wanted him. His camp knew he wasn’t going as a top draft pick and so they shopped for another lucrative NiL deal which didn’t happen.

That's odd because the braintrusts on here made it seem the entire team was under his control and he manipulated two coaching staffs, forcing them to start him.
Occam's Razor...
It's always the simplest solution.
The guy just has talent that gets people to hope he will turn the corner but he fails you every time you believe in him because he doesn't have the mental strength or the technique to be successful consistently.
Yes, absolutely nothing changed from the end of the 2023 season to the end of the 2024 season. It is the exact same scenario.

This.
To be a RB, you need to be able to (a) hit people, and (b) catch the ball.
We already have evidence that Milroe doesn't like to hit people (see the Oklahoma pick 6), and catching a snap that didn't hit him right in the numbers was always a challenge.

Was there any truth to the rumors that had Quinn Ewers trying to come to Tuscaloosa prior to declaring?
