5-star mothers can be a great support group, for freshman and sophomore players. Especially those far from home. Might have helped with people like Kaho and Alfano.
Players who may have trouble adjusting to culture, lifestyle and responsibility.

Alfano just couldn’t crack the line up. According to a practice observer who played under Bryant Alfano was overhyped and played inferior competition in high school and just not athletic enough. He was not doing anything in practice that would have got him on the field.

Not doubting that it is if everyone says so...

BUT

Why does everyone act like Washington to UGA is a foregone conclusion given the fact that Saban said in his presser that we had silent signees?

The silent signees that “haven’t announced” yet was a little confusing and leads one to believe it may be someone other than Baker , Burroughs or George

Baker and Burroughs haven't signed yet, grade issues. George probably hasn't either.

When Saban had his signing day press conference, McClellan or Holden hadn't announced they had signed with Bama yet.

Saban was probably referring to those two.

Tim Watts and Hank South CBs to UGA is not 100% but as close as you are going to get to it being a lock.

Alfano was a massive disappointment for us, but he absolutely dominated elite competition during the AA practices and game.

He deserved his ranking.

Expect Will Anderson to eventually have his hand in the dirt (DE). That's supposedly the plan right now.

Coming off the edge, he could be nasty. My hope is that we dont bulk him up to 300 lbs.

Hadn’t thought of that. You are probably right

Well it was controlled practices mostly. This may highlight flaws in recruiting rankings. Did he really dominate in the AA game? When it came to day in day out practices against Wills, Leatherwood, and Brown, Alfano realized he couldn’t cut it.

Like Saint said it: last year EVERY ONE was drooling over Antonio Alfano:
LINK

Again: these recruits are 17-18 year old kids. No matter how elite they look, lotsa things can happen after they leave their homes, families, high schools and everything that they are familiar with behind. I still remember my first day at university. Was a bit overwelming: small-town kid surrounded by 300+ law students... Took some getting used-to. Expectations were sky-high for Alfano, he had personal (family) issues and it got to him. Sad, really.
