This looks to be the favored outcome…. A lot of momentum and articles just dropped. Meeting soon.

I guess you do byes or something? Equal games doesn’t work out.

Further reading says 8 teams play 5-12 to get to play the top four to make 8 teams left.

So theoretically a team could play 17 games now? 12 regular season, 1 conference championship, 1 "wild card" round, 1 quarterfinal, 1 semifinal, and 1 championship. So not only is the NCAA going to stupidly put itself in the position of competing with the NFL playoffs, they're definitely not going to increase the scholarship limits to offset the added attrition that many teams will face.

I like it. In early November, pretty much every team in the top-25 will have something specific to root for. Some are looking for a bye, some are looking for a home playoff game, some will know they cant lose another game or theyre out, and some will be rooting against a bunch of other teams so they can sneak in

Exactly. People can say what they want, but this gives a lot people more to be exited about

It’s a lot of games, they could cut two regular season games but then you are killing revenue for home games.

No.

This is stupid.

If certain conferences want in they need to get better. Period.

Don't water down the regular season.

But can they ever realistically catch-up? Automatic tie-ins and more at larges seems to me a way to keep interest and keep the game from being an regional sport. Otherwise the Bama's and Ohio State's will continue to dominate and the rest of the country loses interest.

I'm ok with this.
Further, it still rewards the top 4 by providing a bye.

Lets get it on "Marvin Gaye".

The money folks will get what they want so do spend time fighting the end result.

Perhaps 12 will end the desire to get to 16. Then again maybe not.

It always has been a regional sport though. The South, Midwest, and Texas/Oklahoma care about college football win, lose, or draw, the East Coast and West Coast are a bunch of fairweather dipshits who only care if one of the local teams is in the top 5-10, and in the Northeast you have some older Catholics who half heartedly follow Notre Dame, transplants, and tens of millions of people who simply don't give a damn.

I’m not for this at all. If you’re highly ranked, I guess you could sit your star players for a couple of games just to make sure they are fresh for the playoffs. That’s just too many teams.

I wouldn’t have nearly the argument against 8 as I do 12. 12 is just too dang much, in my opinion

This isn't even about fielding the true contenders at this point. Usually, we see the 4th seed get beat up pretty well in the semi-final and now we're about to have 12 teams.

Regular season and conference title games no longer matter. All worth it for the Pac 12 to get some extra money I guess.
