I remember when I was about 12, I somehow got dragged by my mom to the house of some lady who was a big Barry Manilow fan. I can't fully recall if there were pictures of Barry on her walls, but I remember that she had an unhealthy addiction to Barry.

Any of you older ladies of the OT have or had an addition to Barry? I could see Jenx being a Barry Manilow fan.

Hard to believe that Barry is 68. This article criticizes all the plastic surgery he has been having:

He had a legit voice and catchy tunes with good lyrics. He was a little too sappy, and the Manilow Mania segment of the population made him the subject of ridicule by the rest (majority) of the population.

Now, ("even now") he's a pitiful old music legend who is trying too hard to stay young and "relevent".

While Barry Manilow is often a punch line, I like a lot of his music. He’s a talented guy and you may want to check out all of the commercials and product jingles he wrote.

Many years ago I made the mistake of not listening to John Lennon’s music because I did not agree with him politically. That was my loss, not his.

So, while I will not have plastic surgery -- the fact that Barry has will not make me like his music any less. I do not know his sexual preference, but since I enjoy the music of Elton John, Freddy Mercury and Rufus Wainwright, the fact that Barry may be gay makes no difference to me.

The wife and I and three other couples went skiing in Tahoe in the 80s. One of the high rollers with the group got compted to see Manilow - apparently good seats, but I couldn't bring myself to sit through his show.

Found a female mud wrestling match at the same time and thoroughly enjoyed myself there while the rest of the group endured Manilow. Always prided myself on finding something better to do with my time.

I started a thread about "I write the songs" the other day in which I was trying to break down the lyrics and the OT came through and analysed it for me. The song is suppose to music telling the story.. How clever?
