I was working at Weatherford when this happened and our float equipment was on the string. It's the equipment that prevents the well from back flowing. It never converted and that was the beginning of about 7 things failing, like in any major disaster, its never one thing. Our guys told them it didn't convert (its orginally run down hole in the open position and then converts through various mechanisms, usually darts to then not allow back flow) I believe Weatherford settled for ~40MM and admitted no guilt just to be done with it.

What do you want to do?
I have my CFA, I'm a CFO for a PE backed company. I had an engineering degree and got mine after grad school to further my finance knowledge. I don't work in a traditional CFA field but its been immensely helpful especially considering how cheap it was, and it signals that i have deep finance knowledge for a guy who has an engineering degree. Which is weird because finance is 5x easier than mechanical engineering was.

What's not misleading is the number that it will take to bring someone and their staff in AND the NIL commitment they will demand on top of what we pay for buyouts.
The SEC is incredibly competitive now in basketball, so you have to make a big hire with big NIL commitments. Who cares if we go from being 2-18 to being 8-12, or even 10-10. Do we or can we afford to pay twice as much in salary + NIL just to get field a team that is a 10 seed?
