My only "thing" (it's certainly not a complaint or a nitpick at all so I don't know what else to call it) is the recognizable actors
Oh buddy, you haven't even seen the most whiplash "what the frick is he doing in this" moment yet
I've seen it a dozen times at least. Watch it every year around memorial day to remind myself how easy i had it.

For being the MTB, this thread has gone on for quite awhile with a lot of “thinks” and “feelings”.
If we just start with the 4% rule as a starting place, OP is nowhere near to hitting that withdrawal rate.
This.
The OP seems to hate his office job more than the idea of working. I'd consider "retiring" form that job and finding a different line of work for "retirement". Something with health benefits could easily make up for lower pay in the 30-40k annual range.

you can safely turn that $750K into well over a million within 5 years. Just invest in an index.
This is inaccurate and irresponsible investment advice to give someone who is 55 and looking to retire.

Anyone cover the fact that the median house is anywhere from 50-75% larger today than in 1971.

It’s pretty easy to see why shifts could create this problem. Analytics could tell you that shifting could give you much better odds of definitely having someone in position. What weight do these analytics assign to the scenario that a batter hits it through the open spot and all of the repercussions that come with that (baserunning ability, score of the game, etc)? It likely doesn’t account whatsoever for the fact that a freshman has never played behind second base which may change his decision making and mechanics in a way that may alter the play for otherwise routine plays.
He said at every level. Should HS baseball be using analytics? Probably uneccssary, but at the pro level and high level college baseball. ABSOLUTELY.
People use the term analytics like its quantum physics.
quote:
The design of normal positions in baseball were a very simple analytic to distribute the players to places to minimize the chance of any given ball getting behind them.
That's analytics.
quote:
In football, I cringe every time time I hear “the analytics say go for it here” as if you chances of making it are all that matter, without any consideration of the fact that the stakes of not converting are all incredibly unique scenarios.
At the NFL level these are also considered.
quote:
Fact of the matter is people that coach for a living likely have very limited experience in developing and apply statistics and analytics to fully understand how to use them.
Agree, which is why at the pro level they have a room full of stats nerds to do the math and interact with them on the topics.

By all accounts this was the last time that we missed the post season in basketball, baseball, and won 7 or fewer football games

stupid take.
nevermind, we will waive the bottom feeder for any new entrants. It's called the MWG rule.

As some know, we have a long running Dynasty league that originated from this board. It’s not “offline”, we communicate through a Discord channel and the league is ran on Fantrax. We had an owner unexpectedly decide to drop and we are looking for a new owner ASAP. League fee is already paid this year. Going forward, entry fee is $155/year
It’s 20 teams, 12 cat H2H, forever keeper. Yearly MiLB draft for the new draft class. 25 man MLB rosters and 15 man MiLB rosters.
The team in question finished 12/20 last year. It has Julio Rod, Tatis Jr, PCA headlining the bats. Pitching wise it has Ragans, Gore, Imai. Good bones and a young foundation, with some work it can compete. It doesn’t have a First round pick in 2027 FYPD, but it has two 2nds (2 rd draft)
Happy to answer any questions if anyone is interested. Other owners are searching for a replacement, it may not last long. If you don’t want to commit long term it probably isn’t for you
Also there is a 50 dollar penalty for the last two spots, so please don't join knowing this, ask to not pay it, then pay it anyway in week 3 and quit on the league.
also don't be a twat

$108 for a jersey made of 100% polyester from a company with poor reviews for quality spells a big no for me. For $108 it had better be damn fine quality.
They were bought by lids in 2022 (which is owned by fanatics) and the quality went down, but 108 bucks for a one off design isn't crazy expensive.

I feel this way and i think a lot of the "anti pear" people do
He brought this all on himself and is not a martyr
He's a good, not great coach
LSU likely couldn't get a better coach in the market
I never thought he'd be back for a host of reasons
I'm glad he's back
NIL has changed things, the SEC is insanely competitive, and i think it will be difficult for him to repeat the success he had earlier at LSU, but i hope he does

There were a ton of people not just saying that it wasn't likely that Wade would be hired here. It was that there was no way in hell he would ever be hired here. For those of you who were so insistent that it would never happen, you need to consider your sources, be a little less sure of yourselves, or just pull your lip over your head and swallow if you really didn't know what the hell you were talking about.
You don't hit the lottery, and then turn around and tell people " i wasn't wasting money"
People were right, it wasn't likely. I don't expect yall to understand basic statistics though.
We still could very much be 3-3 in sec play, calm down
