Good Morning Everyone. The house is quiet again except for the faint hum of the washer doing bedsheets. Kids and grandkids have all headed back home. Hope Santa was good to y'all!

Back in the seventies

Picked a soldier whose car broke down and brought him back to his base which was not far from where I was headed anyway. Cool guy, just a bad day for him and a small act of kindness that made it better.
I haven’t picked up another hitchhiker since.

Do people ring the bell to perform community service?

Our classic car group picks one Saturday during the Christmas season to ring the bells. We park our cars out front and take turns with the bells while interacting with the community. We have a lot of fun with it and it’s just one of the community volunteer projects we are involved with.
Exxon. Applied for a credit card as a single E4 in the military and was rejected because I wasn’t making enough money.
Applied for a shell card and was approved right away. Never been late on a payment and always paid off the balance every month for 52 years.
Add Chase Bank to that but that is too long of a story. Hurricane related.

Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) and Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) together.
I believe in Father Christmas

Apollo 13

When you listen to the actual voice loop, it is apparent they weren’t reading from a script like Tom Hanks in the movie with several takes. Astronauts and mission controllers aren’t actors.

We had a lady in another department that was collecting money for group purchases for tickets. She kept a book with all names and all the figures.
She got a visit from one of the VP’s who asked if she was collecting lottery money and without waiting for him to finish, she asked Do I need to stop? He laughed and said, Heck no. I’m here to give you my money. If this thing hits big, you all aren’t leaving me here by myself!
We alternate between years with travel. This year, kids coming this way.
I’m wondering how they would have convinced the crews to go along with it knowing if it was faked and got leaked, the humiliation to them and their families would follow them forever. I personally don’t think they would have anything to do with the proposed charade.
Only thing missing is Jim Ross’s commentary.
Every father’s nightmare with his daughter bringing that home for the first time.

Morning OT Folks. Woke up to a leaky toilet. Put on plumbers hat and replaced the leaky valve. The day can proceed now as planned.
Hope your day goes well.
Bill best find another place to sleep tonight.
Border collie named Rufus. Not sure where that name came from.
