Like a lot of people on Sunday, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was shocked when Alabama was revealed to be one of the four College Football Playoff teams. So shocked, he walked off the set...

Only an idiot would have been shocked by this.

Put the idiot hat on me then Saint Tiger because I was certain the committee would put Ohio St in. I lost $20 on it and $20 is a lotta money to me.

If $20 is a lot of money to you, you shouldn't be betting... just sayin

ppplsu,.... you're absolutely right sir or ma'am. But I was so certain that Bama was out I thought it was a guaranteed $20. I normally never, ever bet money on anything.

All they did was make the conference championship games irrelevant!
user avatar
pmacattack77 months
did that last year putting OSU in over B10 champs PSU

Auburn doesn't think Conference Championship games are irrelevant.

They're as relevant as they were before the playoffs, no? You're still your conference champion.

So they didn't pick Ohio St. because they lost two games, one to an unranked opponent. Ok, I get that. Why not Wisconsin? Who did they lose to? A #5 ranked team. Oh, they didn't win their conference? Neither did Bama.

Anyone that actually watched the show knows he wasn't shocked.

Yea.. and the blogger is just trying to get clicks. It's pathetic

If I am anyone of the other 3 teams I would upset with the process. Bama got a bye week for not winning their division but still made the playoff. I think they have a legitimate beef with the committee.

Yes, just like the 3 teams last season were so upset by Ohio State getting a bye week.

He actually wanted Bama to make it. He simply couldn't believe they didn't follow the politically correct decision and choose Ohio St. He meant nothing deliberate. Was just displaying shock in a comical way. Quit making bullshite headlines just to get people to click on your pathetic reach for a click. And stop trying to make something out of nothing.

He said he thought Alabama should be 4 but he expected the committee to put Ohio St. in and he was as shocked. it was not bias.

I don't have a problem with Herbstriet being a hard corps Buckeye homer. At least he's honest about it. But I'm tired of Jessie Palmer's anti Bama bias. Palmer can take his cheese dick, hair jel, Canuck, arse back to Canada.

It was bias.

He was honest to say that Alabama was the better team. I have a problem with the Fox network. During the OSU game, all of them acted like picking OSU was a foregone conclusion. I don't think they believed what they were saying, but were trying to affect the committee.

The thing I don't get is he picked Alabama when asked who would get the 4 spot. Palmer and Galloway went with OSU and Booger and Herbie took Bama.
user avatar

Correct. This title is misleading. He thought Bama *SHOULD* be in but he assumed the committee was going to pick Ohio State. He was actually shocked they picked the 4 best teams.

He picked Bama and he was shocked??? Lmao

I hate Alabama, but they are better than Ohio State and deserved to get in the CFP. Ohio State lost two games, Bama lost one. Also, Bama didn't lose to an unranked opponent at home by 30 points.

Ohio State didn't lose to an unranked opponent at home by 30 points either. They lost to Iowa on the road.

You dont lose yourself into a first round bye. Thats basically what Alabama did AGAIN.

wasn't Ohio State in the same boat last year as Bama is this year and Herbstreit was making a big noise about how Ohio State deserves to be in the playoff's last year. Now that Ohio St. is a conference champion, his last years debate is null and Bama doesn't deserve to be in the playoff's, Hypocrite Herbstreit.

IDK why he was upset that a one loss team that didn't play for or win their conference bumped Ohio State out the playoffs, because that's exactly what Ohio State did the season before. They were in they same place as Bama this year and the committee picked them instead of the conference champ who beat Ohio State in the regular season. Ultimately, Ohio State got their asses handed to them by Clemson in that 2016 playoff game. So, who knows what may have been had the committee taken Penn State instead. But, the committee has made it clear, conference championships mean nothing compared to wins and losses. Fact is, Ohio State is not one of the best 4 teams in the country. Auburn, LSU, Miami, USC could all beat Ohio State. There is a reason why southern teams have dominated the National Championship of college football for the past decade. Ohio State wasn't good enough to win the NC last year and they got the snot beat out of them. Who wants to see a frickin blowout in the college playoffs, I sure as hell don't. And now they have 2 losses, they def are not good enough to compete with southern teams this season. Losing 31 to nothing in a college football playoff semi-final is an embarrassment to the committee for picking them last year and a joke to football enthusiast that just want to watch a good football game. Urban should go back to Fla.

Just reading through past blog posts of Larry Leo.. Obviously a shite stirrer who will twist the truth to get clicks. Personally, I'll never read another thing he types. He is more worried about clickbaiting people with bullshite than actually covering sports in a respectable way.

He said he thought Alabama would be the fourth team in just before the final four were announced. Appears he got caught up in a lie.

How was he surprised? Just seconds earlier he had said Bama was the better team and he would pick them.
