Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney Is Over The Criticism Of Clemson’s Schedule
© Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has had enough of the criticism of his team's schedule. When asked about the Tigers' strength of schedule on Tuesday he had this response...

You agree?

Dabo, Dabo, Dabo... you really should just keep your mouth shut because you cannot honestly believe the bs spewing out both sides. Clemson is going to back themselves into the playoff this year, and you know they will. LSU/Bama, Penn St/Ohio St are going to take care of themselves, and who will be sitting there waiting to take one of their spots... Clemson. So you know you are going to get in (unless you find a way to lose a game), so just sit back and shut your mouth. Here is the truth, Clemson would probably be pretty freakin good in the SEC, but there are 3 or 4 SEC teams who would walk through your schedule, so if anything you should be thankful you are in the position you are in. I would rather him say, "Your damn right our schedule is weak, we can't help that, but we'll take the free pass into the playoff."

I agree with other posters, he has went far above most other programs in trying to schedule good teams. It's not his fault that the ACC has fallen apart and South Carolina and A & M aren't as good as it they should be. Give him credit for scheduling 2 power 5 teams from the SEC

He's taking over after Saban, right? It has to be a sure thing because of stuff like this and the pile of cash they're going to throw at him.

I can't stand Dabo and it's not Clemson's fault the ACC is garbage. I don't know what the answer is but when you look at what Clemson has to do vs. what an Auburn or LSU has to go through it's laughable. There are probably 5 teams in the SEC who would likely go undefeated playing that schedule.

In the SEC, there are 2-3 “playoff type games” per year and sometimes 4. And there is usually 1 skulker team that can sneak up and beat you if you don’t put your foot on their throat. ACC is a garbage conference. Clemson has to play who they have to play. They scheduled aTm. They can’t make their counterparts hire great coaches. But Bottom line, Dabo should just discuss his team and keep his trap shut about other conferences.

Did he really say because nobody is else good?

What a stupid comment. Who’s the second best team in the ACC? The third? Fourth? Now line them up against the SEC

I agree we can whine and talk all we want about the gumps/clemson's SOS, but our best punch to prove any point would be to beat them every now and then. Until then no teams sos is relevant if that team beats you, then you become irrelevant because you had a chance to make a statement and didn't. Time to win this time Tigers

Insanely simplistic thinking. Can't beat the number 1 team in the nation so the sec can't claim top 10 teams while the ACC is a fricking cake walk. No one in the acc can even claim top 25. To compare is beyond simplistic.

it will be revealed during the first playoff game.

As long as he's put success where his mouth is, it's a fair response. OTOH, if on Clemson's off-day UNC was K-State, and on OU's K-State was UNC, Clemson would have a loss, and OU would be undefeated.

Bama has the weakest schedule in all of the P5, but we don't hear any talk about the crappy schedule Bama has played. I guess it doesn't fit the Rece Davis narrative.

Wrong. Bama has to play auburn lsu and a good east team if they win. Who does Clemson play? Anm? Not nearly as good as auburn or lsu? Point made.

overrated team in a crappy conference with a lady QB.

Clemson is overrated? If so, why isn't Baylor or Minnesota ranked up there with Clemson. Because people know Clemson is loaded with talent, has clearly been a top team for the past 4 years, and is likely a top team again. They've earned their reputation over the past years and it's carrying over to this year. If you say it shouldn't, then you should have Baylor and Minnesota ranked higher than Clemson, based on record and SOS this year. But no rational person believes those teams are in the same universe as Clemson.

He really is being a baby. His team did get exceptionally lucky to beat a BAD North Carolina team.

that happens to most teams (even elite teams) every year. Remember last year Clemson needed a 4th down conversion from their backup QB to beat Syracuse. Then, of course, Clemson dominated everyone in the playoffs. A football season is filled with ebbs and flows. Just because a team has a bad week doesn't mean they stink. It's just a bad week. You have to consider the entire body of work.
