Former LSU quarterback is officially the leader in the Cincinnati Bengals QB room as the team will be releasing veteran passer Andy Dalton, according to ESPN's Adam Shefter.

Burrow was likely going to be the starter anyway but this move should cement his role with the team for the upcoming season.

Damn, called Joe to welcome him to Cinci and then gets the boot. Harsh.

I haven't kept up with the latest but feel like Dalton may be a good fit in NE.

Mixed feelings on this. Glad Joe is the man, but would have been nice to have a vet there for guidance. Of course, Dalton may have wanted this.

Joe has a graduate degree and just completed one of the best seasons in CFB history. Plus, his father was a college coach. He didn't need a veteran to guide him.

LSU Patrick - ever go from college to pro? He could definitely use the help of a veteran QB.

If there was ever an NFL ready QB, it was Joe Burrow. He didn't need anyone to hold his hand like some talented but immature QBs.

Lord Jesus, please watch over Joe because he is about to get his head officially bashed opened playing behind this offensive line. They should've kept Dalton so he could take on these licks until they are able to shore up the line for Burrow.

Really hope the fans don't trash Joe if he doesn't bring everything they want. Meaning I hope they understand that it's going to take more than one season to bring that shite franchise to relevancy. That being said, I hope Joe goes out there, gets winning season and gets rookie of the year.

They should've played the Alex Smith/Patrick Mahomes strategy. Burrow could've gained a wealth of knowledge from a seasoned guy like Dalton.

That's true, but there was no way their cheap arse owner was going to keep him. Thet saved almost $18 million by releasing him. I think it was 17.7 mil.

Joe will be fine. He's been facing NFL level talent for 5 years now. And probably more in practice than most games.

They wanted to make sure Joe was for real before releasing Dalton. I guess this means they're now convinced that he is.
