Isn't he the one pushing Drinkwitz?

I take golesh over both those.

Me too. We can use the money we save on his salary for NIL. I don’t want Freeman. I agree that hiring another Notre Dame coach would not be popular with the fans.

Nobody is pushing for Drinkwitz where do you people get this shite? You have no idea what you are talking about.

Actually they are. If Brohm stays at Louisville and Sumrall takes the Auburn gig, I have a bad feeling that we end up with Drink. They’ll spin it as a way to maintain continuity, since Baker would likely stay. I’d rather take a chance on Alex Golesh, but never underestimate LSU’s ability to frick this up. Of all the new coaching hires in the SEC, we will end up with the most underwhelming one.

More stable.

True, because y'all are used to accepting mediocrity in your football program. Bama has been and always will be the football king in your state, and they're right down the road.

We have better administrators

I assume you're referring to actual university administration, because Auburn's boosters have the reputation for being bat shite crazy.

By all accounts Verge is well liked in the football world, that seems to be the one thing we have going for us.

Every other SEC school with a decent AD will drags its balls over LSU as long as Verge is AD. He may be well-liked, but I can guarantee he’s not well respected. Hopefully the BOS and Chancellor Dalton realize this sooner rather than later and bring in a sitting AD from another school…and I don’t mean McNeese.
quote:

That will potentially limit LSU's hiring opportunities.

Surely they realize this, but I guess they're too stupid to care.

We'll be lucky to get a CUSA level coach once this is all said and done.

The second that Landry got involved, we were screwed.

I think it might be time to take a break from LSU football for a while. I'll still watch other sports until such time that LSU manages to frick those up too.

I know that if we still don't know by January, we are prob going for a coach in the playoffs, etc.

Or it means that Verge and company screwed up the coaching search and are scrambling to find someone from the leftovers that Arky, Auburn, Penn State, etc, didn't want.

One of these is not like the others IMO. I think Campbell is a dang good coach.

It could also be argued that Jimbo Fisher is a dang good coach. He does have a national championship to his credit. That said, I don't want him as our football coach either. Matt Campbell is not a bad coach, but I don't think he's what LSU needs right now.
Frank Wilson
James Franklin
Matt Campbell
Kelvin Sheppard
Jimbo Fisher

If any of these guys get the job, it means that LSU badly mishandled the coaching search.

replace what is currently working?

What exactly is currently working?

They’re not going to leave the OL without a coach

Why not? They can't get any worse and they sure as hell aren't getting any better.

He’s qualified to be our DC that’s it

Agree. The SEC is not the place for on the job training.

If he gets the job, it means we blew it with other more highly qualified candidates.

It seems to be just Nuss and the Oline.

I just don't get how the hell Brad Davis still has a job at LSU.
quote:

i think Frank and Raymond make too much sense

I used to think that these two must be retained at all costs, but I don't feel that way anymore. NIL is all about who can pay more. Recruiting has taken a back seat. Besides, the running backs have been terrible the past two years. Maybe move Wilson to an off the field role, but whomever the new coach is needs to have total autonomy over his staff.

The Bama game is over so there’s nothing to hold them back unless Saban still has a few loose ends to tie…right?

It's not going to be Saban, Kiffin, or Lanning, so fans need to adjust their expectations accordingly. Arky got the SMU coach, and word on the street is that Brohm is likely headed to Auburn. Who does that leave for us?

Dillingham
Golesh
Lea
Campbell
Franklin
Freeman

Out of this list, Dillingham would be my top choice, with Golesh my no.2.
I’d definitely take Brohm, but he’s likely headed to Auburn.

Do you really think a 100MM company would just sit around and go into irrelevance like it was 30 years ago?

No we will keep making changes until it works because there’s too much at stake.

My question is this. What happens to Verge if he is unable to land either a big-name sitting coach or an exciting up-and-comer? What if he gets outmaneuvered by Kiffin, Lanning, or whomever the top dogs he's after and by that time all of the exciting younger coaches have been scooped up? Does he remain as permanent AD? Given that an AD's most defining hire is usually the football coach, surely LSU would try to get an experienced AD at that point, right?

Any AD worth a damn

Here's where we run into a problem. I have no faith that Verge can outmaneuver Kiffen. Kiffen will string us along just like Tom Herman and Lincoln Riley did. Verge better be ready to make a move on Brohm, Dillingham, or one of the other targets as soon as KIffen starts playing his game, otherwise we will be stuck with James Franklin or Frank Wilson.
quote:

Strong feeling Kiffin will leave us standing at the alter. I like him but, you Just can’t trust the guy.

These are my feelings exactly. You can't trust Kiffin. He's gonna frick us over.

Verge needs to get Brohm before Auburn scoops him up or go after Dillingham.
quote:

LSU could land any of Kiffin, Dillingham, and Brohm and all would be great hires.

My Auburn buddies feel that they're gonna get Brohm. I'm worried that Kiffin is going to string us along and then end up either staying at Ole Miss or going to Florida. Isn't Arky targeting either the SMU or Memphis coaches?
