Brandon Marcello of 247Sports reports that Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker has emerged as an early candidate for the LSU DC opening.
Baker has been the defensive coordinator at Missouri for the past two seasons. The Tigers ranked 25th in total defense this year.
Before joining Missouri's staff, Baker was LSU's linebacker coach under Ed Orgeron in 2021.
The 41-year-old from Houston was the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach at Miami from 2019 to 2020. Before that, he was the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach at Louisiana Tech from 2015 to 2018.

LSU/Missouri: Missouri’s Blake Baker has emerged as a leading target for the LSU defensive coordinator job, sources tell 247Sports' Brandon Marcello and Matt Zenitz. Led by Baker, Missouri has gone from ranking 113th nationally in total defense in 2021 to ranking 25th this season. Baker signed a new contract at Mizzou in December that makes him one of the highest-paid assistants in the SEC. Baker, a former Tulane linebacker, previously worked at LSU as linebackers coach in 2021 and was DC at Louisiana Tech (15-18).
