Report: LSU RB John Emery Jr. Is Pursuing A Seventh Year Of College Football

LSU veteran running back John Emery Jr. is reportedly pursuing a seventh year of college eligibility after sustaining a season-ending injury in the opener last year.

On Thursday, Emery Jr. and his representation announced on social media that he will return in 2025 for his final season.

According to Wilson Alexander of the Advocate, Emery Jr. is “early in the process” and has not decided where he will play.

I get it…he had high expectations and his career didn’t pan out like he wanted. At some point you have to let the dream go though. Now my hope is that he simply wants to make it through a full season before riding off into the sunset. That’s way more realistic than trying to be a starter ahead of younger guys with no injury history and trying to make it to the NFL, where he would’ve been peaking at his age.

I really want him back, but I suspect he might be better off taking a deal at a smaller program to be the surefire #1 guy. Wish him well wherever he goes—he poured it out for the good guys and no one has a bad thing to say about him.

Good for him. Hopefully it works out that he can come back to LSU. His story should be a inspiration to other players. No matter how many set backs you have no matter if they are self inflicted or any other reason if you work hard and don't quit you can succeed.

Does he have to take classes? That always seemed to be his downfall… like the missing apostrophe in his announcement.

He graduated in May, I think. The announcement was made by his NIL agent, not him. So the apostrophe gaff is on them. But grammar seems to be a lost cause nowadays. Just look at the social media posts of any TV or newspaper, it will be riddled with grammatical errors.
