NFL Insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that new LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. spoke with the Philadelphia Eagles about their offensive coordinator opening but has chosen to remain at LSU.

Weis has been Lane Kiffin's offensive coordinator since 2022, when he was hired at Ole Miss. He followed Kiffin to Baton Rouge this offseason, while also handling playoff duties with the Rebels.

I wouldn’t want to coach Jalen Hurts either. He’s a bum.

Why do they keep recycling this old news. Run out of stuff to run with. That’s called lazy journalism

He'll likely be gone after 2026. I know Kiffin has already been planning ahead.

The fake news wants him gone so bad. Cannot stand Kiffen being a winner especially at LSU.

I know you love to spout things as “fake news”, but it actually happened.

I think he's referring to the lockstep animosity from the national sports media towards anything Lane Kiffin since he took the LSU job. Some are starting to back off (like Finebaum) because they didn't have a negative effect on portal recruiting- and suspect he'll make lots of noise this fall. If anything, they inspired LK and his crew to work even harder.

It doesnt matter, we hired Kiffin because he is the hottest HC/OC in football.

I don't believe that. Sure LSU is a great job, and he's loyal to Coach Kiffin. But the offensive coordinator job (if offered) would be a waaaaaay lot bigger salary, and depending on your views of NFL vs College a bigger prestige move

The Highest paid coordinator in the NFL last season was Chip Kelly at $6M per year and that was far and away the highest for an NFL OC. New Orleans' first year coach Kellen Moore made $2.5M as the OC for the Eagles in 2024. Charlie Weiss Jr. currently makes $2.5M per year at LSU and has an annual "look in" clause to make sure he stays the highest paid OC in the SEC.
So no, it wouldn't be a "waaaaaaaay lot bigger salary."
