LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier announced Wednesday evening that he will return to the team in 2025.

Nussmeier, a redshirt junior from Lake Charles, La., passed for 3,739 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions this season in his first year as LSU's starter.

For those who don't remember, Nussmeier chose not to play in the 2022 Texas Bowl against Kansas State as it would have burned up his redshirt for the 2021 season. LSU had no quarterbacks available in the Texas Bowl and had to start wide receiver Jontre Kirklin instead.

Had Nussmeier played in that game, this past season would have been last year at LSU.

Now, he's coming back to Baton Rouge for his final year of eligibility.

He committed to LSU. He never waivered. He signed with LSU. He stuck with LSU through the Ed O firing. He stuck with LSU when Jayden transferred in a took his job. He never once "hit the portal". And now he is forgoing the NFL to stick with that commitment once again. This is the ultimate "LSU guy"

He really is. Big respect for him. Hopefully he can take care of the ball next year but whether he gets us to the playoffs or not he’s a true tiger

And to that end our fans should show him love, he showed a ton of fight during the OU game. Here’s to hoping he shows out next year.

He was gone if Brian Kelly didn’t fork up the mill and a half this week.

If you’re not rooting for this kid, you’re not a tiger fan.

Exactly, with preseason hype he had he would have likely gotten a multimillion NIL deal to transfer but he stuck it out and hope he tops Burrow and Daniels!

I am glad he is coming back…but I am still cautiously optimistic. He has stuck with LSU through a ton of shite and I hope he lights it up this year!

So we have possibly the top rated quarterback coming back. No reason we shouldn’t make the playoffs next season. If not , major changes will have to be made

Great news. We can only hope he has the same 2nd year improvement that Joe and Jayden had. Get a hint of a tuning. Continued improvements on D and this team can make some noise. Go get’em Nuss.

Being old and blind sucks. A hint of a running game. Lol

I get it, but Burrow's 2nd year was with a new coordinator that ran the HS offense that Joey B knew and was comfortable with. Dont expect that out of Nuss this year.... but we can always hope

Glad he is staying, but who is he going to throw to? If he has the skill players around him, he could have a Heisman year.

I don’t know what portal WRs they’ll add to the ones coming back, but I’d much rather BK have to find a couple of guys in to play WR than I would a brand new QB that’s unproven or hasn’t played well in the SEC.

I spotted Chris Hilton and Emory Jones in that video of what appears to be returning weapons.
