During his show on Monday, Fox Sports College Football analyst Joel Klatt ranked the Top 10 coaches in college football and slotted LSU's Lane Kiffin at No. 10.

1. Curt Cignetti, Indiana
2. Ryan Day, Ohio State
3. Kirby Smart, Georgia
4. Dan Lanning, Oregon
5. Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame
6. Steve Sarkisian, Texas
7. Kyle Whittingham, Michigan
8. Kalani Sitake, BYU
9. Mario Cristobal, Miami
10. Lane Kiffin, LSU

Klatt explained that he has been critical of Kiffin over the years, but still considers him a top-tier coach.
quote:

"This list would not be complete without him on it," Klatt said. "I know the exit from Ole Miss was messy, but look what he built at Ole Miss."

"He's basically going to guarantee you a Top-5, Top-10 offense in college football."

"He averaged over 500 yards per game in his six seasons at Ole Miss, that's number one in the FBS during that span, and that’s in the SEC. By the way, that’s the most ever in SEC history."

"That’s an area where LSU really struggled, and so obviously they were going to target him. He took Ole Miss to a sustained level of excellence that they really had never seen before."

"He has four 10-win seasons over the last five years, and only Kirby Smart, Ryan Day, and Kalen Deboer have more wins than Lane over the last five years."

"That’s pretty incredible. So Lane Kiffin is definitely on the list. He’s number 10 at LSU."

Kiff should be ahead of Sitake and Whittingham but behind Cristo. If he makes playoffs this year, he’s easily in the top 6, maybe top 5 if you think he’s better than Sark. ND guy is a doofus

Kirby Smart? lol. He's a great recruiter and has a talent rich environment to pick from. But #3 coach? You've got to be joking

Kiffin should be much higher than #10. Ole Miss was an afterthought until Kiffin turned them around.

Ryan Day way too high. Lane too low. 2 or 3 of them shouldn't be in the top 10, but it's hard to make a good top 10 list.
Joel Klatt wouldn't make it on my list of top 30 Football analysts.

I’ve got mixed feelings about Ryan Day but the guy won a NC, played for another and consistently makes the playoff. Who should be ahead of him?

Dan Lanning is so overrated that the 2026 Oregon Peach Bowl Champions T shirt is killing children in Africa

Cristobal at #9? Franklin should be at 10 then? They have the same record from the past 3 seasons. More silliest from Klatt later.

He’s won as many national championships as six of the other coaches on this list.

This is how this lane is played these days. Drama and controversy for 'click bait'.
