Ed Orgeron Is The 2nd-Highest Paid Coach In The Country, According To Updated Database

This is probably not the news that LSU fans want to see based on the current state of the football program but Ed Orgeron ranks as the second-highest-paid coach in the country, according to the latest USA Today's 2021 coaching salary database.

Orgeron's total pay of $9,012,917.00 is second behind Nick Saban's $9,753,221.00.

Out of the Top-10 highest-paid coaches on the list, five are from SEC schools: Saban, Orgeron, Dan Mullen, Jimbo Fisher, and Kirby Smart.

Woodward should be held accountable. The extension was a couple of years too long and one ring does not equate to Saban level compensation.

Leave it to Woodward to overpay on all phases of hires. Jimbo is happy, Bo is happy, Ed is happy and all of the new assistants are very satisfied.

So why did LSU pay him so much? To keep him? He is unproven in the long run at any HC job he has had! I see no issue paying these coaches good money, but performance should be where the big money is. NC=big check, 5 and 5 equal base money only. This year he should get less than base pay. He will never be a HC at any other major school and the people analyzing talent should have known that. It was a easy lazy hire with little thought.

He is so unproven he is one of a small handful of active coaches with a Natty. Listen to yourself. You can hate all you want but without O LSU does not win it in 2019.

LSU paying the most for Les or so it seems the last decade: Pelini, Miles, O , Matt Canada, S. Linehan. So much money for so little production. Why do we pay Coaches top dollar when no one else would even Give them half of what we gave them?
