CBS Reports Jordan Seaton Signed Record Breaking Deal With LSU This Offseason

CBS Sports writer Chris Hummer recently detailed LSU's recruitment of offensive tackle transfer Jordan Seaton and revealed some details on the record-breaking deal he signed with the Tigers.

Seaton, who previously played at Colorado last season, was the top offensive line transfer in the portal and signed with LSU over Miami, Oregon, and Mississippi State.

According to Hummer, Seaton's NIL package at LSU was north of $4 million, which included additional incentives, such as cars and real estate.

But Seaton had all the leverage, and LSU paid handsomely to get him on campus for the 2026 season. Seaton's pay package is believed to be the largest for an offensive lineman in college football history.

They should not let financial information out. This can cause other players to seek better deals elsewhere. Get the high value player in and everyone will know we are NIL competitive.

Anybody that’s thinks the LSU roster, or any for that matter, is due to “great recruiters” should understand those days are behind us. It’s all about the dollar. Loyalty has evaporated.

2019 was the last real national champion. I hate the portal and what college sports have become. NIL can be manageable if you could build a roster. The portal and immediate eligibility has crushed programs. One rule change fixes it, sit out a year if you transfer like the old days and this nonsense fixes itself.

Good on Seaton for taking advantage of the opportunity to get paid. I dont think this NIL era will last forever. Salary caps will eventually get put in place as CFB tries to mold itself similar to the NFL. Kids should take advantage while they can.

Now that he’s a highly paid professional, he should be ready for the criticism if he doesn’t perform commensurate with the contract.

I hate it for everybody except Jordan Seaton. Good on him. He could have a Marcus Lattimore knee injury next year. That would be horrible. The PROBLEM is that the faithful fans will continue to be disillusioned by the mercenary effect that is NOT Jordan's fault. So again, good on him. He did what he had to do for himself and family. But College Football is screwed. No way this can last. The fans, who've had unlimited energy since the 1950's...will run out of gas when the emotion of it all goes away.
