LSU's Brian Kelly was on the SEC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday morning and was asked if they have considered making a change at quarterback with Garrett Nussmeier's recent struggles over the last two games.

Kelly made it clear they are sticking with Nussmeier but knows they need to get some things fixed.

A lot of negative comments regarding what Kelly said, but what exactly do you expect him to say? He not going to down talk his QB to the media! For Kelly that would be recruiting suicide. He said they did thier due diligence when deciding who would be the starting QB. That's just code for Hurley isn't ready. I'm sure BK has been harping fundamentals and footwork to Nuss all year. This might be news to us, but this is nothing new to Nuss. I don't have a problem with what he said. Praise in public, scold in private. One of the building blocks of a great leader.

Can they ask when OL is going to run block?

He keeps reminding us about his 30 years of coaching experience. I wish we could tell by the product he had field that head coach was very experienced!

The Nuss bus ran off the road, crashed and burned against Alabama Saturday

At this point in the season Nuss is not going to improve his footwork. It’s not going to happen. He looks the exact same as he did against USC.

Can he at least take him out for a play or two when he throws an egregious pick to make a point?

After the nuss int in the end zone would have been a great time to at least give Collins a shot to see what he could do. At that point LSU was still in the game. Apparently Collins is seen as good enough to run one series, so nuss can at least air the tires on his bus back up because they were flatter than a pancake. Not even one series just to see if Collins could provide a spark? 10 million dollar coach geez!

Can't the backups put on those 3D headsets and get into that VR room and get better on their own...w/o being on the practice time clock, so to speak?

Ain't that why JD made such a leap in year 2?

Inability to run the ball with any effectiveness puts a lot of pressure on a QB to play perfect games in order to win.

Sloan is a running game terrorist. That being said I’m not sure if we can’t run because of how awful the interior line play is or if the scheme is just awful.

Early in the season the only running play we did was hand the ball off to Williams and he would run it up the centers arse, the stretch plays have been looking better and then for some reason after the first run of the game went for 30 yards we just didn’t do it any more

This is true, However, there have been plenty times where he had room to tuck and run but he chose to force a throw! I like Nuss but he has to run sometimes.

Why not add some plays for Collins, or even "0" Z Thomas, counters, mix it up a little to open up the running game. If its just Nuss again sitting back there in drop back, nothing changes. CBK is turning into another Les, hardheaded. Open up the playbook and quit being tentative...

I'm not the "put the backup in" kind of guy but Nuss has struggled in a lot more than the last 2 games.
We should've lost to SC and Ole Miss

Florida, Vandy, Oklahoma - hope Kelly finds the right combination of basics to finish strong

Can someone please ask him why we didn’t try to get a better center in the portal?

Or better RBs, guards, safeties, at least depth at linebacker, etc., LSU needs at least 1 (in some cases more than 1) of everything.

Not giving Collins any snaps during garbage time is very telling of this coaching staff

You haven't even seen him to judge that. He looked decent in practice when Nuss was throwing ints everywhere. That's all we have to go on.

Why don't we look at importing some Sumo wrestlers from Japan for the OL/DL? They're big and have quick feet. Seriously.

My 0 years of coaching experience also tells me that an overwhelmed QB needs to simplify the offense to get back on track. Great insight Brian

His footwork is bad because he's scared..ala J Lee. He throws falling back a lot and doesn't step forward in th the pocket.
The defense is even worse. Nuss could have had his best game ever and Bama would have scored more
