Will Wade Says LSU's Roster Is Being Built Behind-The-Scenes, "We Have 7-8 Guys"

LSU head coach Will Wade spoke with Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and detailed how he's building LSU's roster this offseason.

Despite only having one player committed from the transfer portal, Wade said that plenty of work is being done behind the scenes and that they have "seven or eight guys," but are choosing not to announce anything.

Wade added that they are focusing on more international players, some of whom are still playing in the playoffs.

"This year I'm going to lean a little heavier on the international route," Wade said. "This is the last year that some of the older kids over there will be eligible because of the clock issues. Those kids have a lot of experience, and some of the natural things they have learned over there translate in college basketball."

"We are certainly going to get some of the best guys we can from the transfer portal. We have gotten a couple already, and we are going to try to get a couple more, but we are going to supplement that with some overseas guys."

When asked about the "low volume" of players on LSU's roster:

"Well, 'low volume' in terms of what you guys know. We have 7 or 8 guys, we're not too worried."

"For a bunch of reasons, we are not announcing things. Some guys are still playing the playoffs; there are a lot of different things going on."

"By the day school starts, we'll have real good team. That's all that matters. By the end of August, we'll have a great team. We feel really good about the work we have done. We'll have a roster that will compete with just about anybody in the SEC and nationally."
