Former LSU star Paul Skenes is making a case as the best pitcher in the Major League.

On Thursday, Skenes dominated the first-place Milwaukee Brewers by throwing a new career-high 11 strikeouts in 7 no-hit innings but was pulled after 99 pitches.

The Pirates pulled off the 1-0 win.

Pulled at 99 pitches. No hitters aren't easy to come by and the pirates robbed him of an opportunity.

Yeah, let’s just keep him in there so he burn out his arm in his rookie season.

He throws 100+ easily with incredible movement on his fastball. Hopefully he gets the All Star baseball game start!! I want to see him against Judge.

Pirates just want to extend his career. Individual no hitter record is not that important. Statistics show it can damage the young pitchers arm. Pirates have a long term investment to protect. Scenes doesn’t need a complete game no-hitter to,prove how good he is.

Remember when Tenn fans said Skenes would have only been a midweek starter for them?

By far and away the dumbest thread I've seen on this site. Not even a debate.

A Tennesse fan was in my office and I read your post. - even he laughed at how stupid that assertion was.

It's worth it to watch . He's like a surgeon right now. Watch all his games plus other teams.

Wow. That man is a machine! And yeah, why not let him go for the no hitter, unless his pitch count was getting too high?

Skenes: Throwing a no-hitter after 7
11 K's, hitters completely overmatched.

Pirates: Who needs to see a no hitter, Skenes, you're out, go to the bullpen.

Not only that, but the score was only 1-0 and the reliever almost lost the game in the 8th, never mind the no-hitter. Teams act like letting a guy throw 120 pitches even ONCE in a season is unspeakable.

7 no hit innings and they would have to drag me out of there. Let him go for the no no after 7 innings. Geez.

Agreed. Pitchers are handled so much differently than they used to be. Maybe it's for the best, maybe not. Are we seeing fewer injuries from pitchers now? Doesn't seem to be the case.

7 innings, 99 pitches, team leading 1-0. There was a time when it wouldn't even be a thought to remove the starter in this situation. I miss those days.

The pussification of sports continues.

ianfson111 months
Pussification ? Really? Maybe you could do better at managing their roster. Burn up his arm so you can see a no hitter? Geez

If MLB cares about the increasing the popularity of MLB and its fans, they will push for Skenes to start the All-Star game for the National League.
