Rumor Is Auburn Superbooster Jimmy Rane Is Targeting Legendary College Coach Bob Stoops
© Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports
Take this with a grain of salt, but Sports By Brooks reported on Tuesday that sources tell him that Auburn booster Jimmy Rane is “targeting” former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops to replace Gus Malzahn if the Tigers don’t win the Iron Bowl this year...

I don't know if I see this happening, how about you?

UGA whips Auburn so much that it's hard for me to hate them. That is a problem that hiring Stoops would solve no matter how much the Dawgs dominate the barners.

I didn’t know yella fella was the richest dude in Alabama. What about that old money, old Mobile family that I will not mention out of respect? I told all of you that kept on saying “Auburn is stuck with Gus because of his buyout” that Yella Wood would write that check in a heartbeat and not bat an eye.

BGB does not want to coach in the SEC
Reply4 months
BGB is too smart to take the AU job, if there was a job opening.
Reply4 months
BGB is making about $20k per week in interest and dividends, without touching his principal. Alabama told their biggest booster to frick off, and returned his money, when he wanted to be in charge. What will Auburn do?

Good god they didn’t learn a thing from Jetgate.

Coaching the Dallas XFL team. Pretty easy gig compared to the shite show that Auburn would provide him.

@Decade Plus Lurker, yea I know man right? Somewhere Comrade Stalin is laughing is mustache off at the capitalist pig Americans that pay someone 26 million to just go away. A bullet costs 75 cents.

Auburn is an “unusual” place.

And what a idiotic time to start floating this. The team is 3-0, playing great defense, and are preparing for what could be a defining game for their season this week. How dumb. The guy has managed to win an SEC title and make it to another title game in this Saban era. How many other West teams have done that? Yep, zero.

Is that zero including 2011 LSU?

Also 2007?

Both of those teams won the SEC while Saban was at Alabama, BTW.

I doubt Stoops or Meyer want to live in Auburn, deal with meddling boosters or face Saban annually.

Yeah because Norman Oklahoma is such a swanky metropolitan area.

Dude, Norman is a stones throw from Oklahoma City which is over a half million. Auburn is a stones throw from Opelika.

His nick name would become "Bob Stoops to the toilet"

"if the Tigers don’t win the Iron Bowl this year" Welcome aboard, Bob

He’s not coming to SEC and be Saban’s rival
Reply4 months
exactly, no one except a young guy trying to prove his merit wants to put themselves in the line of fire against saban right now at Auburn

No way Coach Choke could win the Iron Bowl.

This is more of the same shite about how Malzahn is gone if he doesn’t do this. It would take him losing to A&M, LSU, UGA and Bama and losing one or two more to get him fired. We just aren’t going to pay a couch 20 mil or so to walk for winning 8 games and losing to a few top 5 teams.

lol “big game Bob” would shite the bed in every iron bowl

He’s too big a pussy to walk into Sabans backyard. If he did, it will likely extend Nick’s stay by another 5 years.
