The two are not mutually exclusive. He could tell his buddies not to expect a Bama blowout but still believe the Tide would win. Secretly he probably knows that Bama ain't ready for Prime Time but he's not going to say it as a University employee.

My in-laws were talking about how Indian hasn't played anybody and Bama should win. I just told them they beat Oregon and OSU. Who has Bama beat?
The SEC is down. Now parity in the SEC is better than the other conferences and it is a harder conference.
