Deion Sanders Admits What He's Really Learned From Nick Saban
© Andrew Wevers-USA TODAY Sports
During an interview with Taylor Rooks this week, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was asked about his relationship with Alabama head coach Nick Saban...
quote:

“Identifying personnel,” Sanders told Rooks. “Coaching-wise, understanding the different, not leagues but the different conferences. Understanding all that language and how this stuff works and why this school is going to that conference or that school is going to that conference, and always being prepared for what’s next.”

“So, just little things that he may whisper in between takes when we’re shooting an Aflac commercial. They’re sacred to me because he is him, and I respect the heck out of him.”
And Nick Saban has respect for him, per FOX News...
quote:

"I haven’t been able to see him a lot. I saw a little bit of the game last week against Colorado State," Saban said Wednesday when asked what he has seen from Colorado. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deion Sanders. First, he’s a great person, and he does a great job of marketing the program to create a lot of national interest. But I see their team playing well on the field. They play with discipline. They do a good job with executing. They’ve been able to score points, playing decent on defense."

"All those things to me are indicators that he’s a really good coach," Saban continued. "And I’ve always thought that, and he’s always been successful. Whether it was Jackson State, high school or now at Colorado, his teams have always been well coached."

If it wouldn't surprise you then you don't know much about football. Deion has as much chance at that job as I do. Like Auburn has done with Pearl and Freeze, desperation calls for desperate measures and you throw caution to the wind HOPING it doesn't bite you in the a$$. Bama doesn't have to do that.

I'm not sure how well the season is going to turn out for Prime, but from what I've seen so far his teams play with pride and emotion. Fun to watch.

Deions novelty will not work at Alabama. His main draw is that he can recruit. The Alabama brand already recruits without him. He would win at Alabama but wouldn’t win at a level Alabama is accustomed to and his Bama fans would turn on him quickly.

He would be like a black Ed Orgeron, but the limited amount we've seen so far seems like Deion is much better at choosing assistants than Ed was.

Deion would be dangerous as frick at Alabama.

His ego is too big... he'll want to prove he can coach in the NFL before long. And somebody will hire him.

No way Alabama would consider him. His body of work as a coach is too small to hang any skins up. That said, he has been successful to this point, but they haven’t really played anyone yet. When Alabama has to replace Saban, it will be one of their own, or another coach that has had experience in NC wins on their resume with Saban. Alabama will not have to decide on that person for some time. I think Lane Kiffin would be on their radar of candidates, but not Neon Deon.

God, I hope so

Lane Kiffin hasn't done anything. His best win as a HC was against a mid Indiana team.
