Danny Kanell Responds To Saban, Says Bama Didn’t 'Earn' 2017 National Championship
© Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports
Earlier this week Alabama head coach Nick Saban finally responded to UCF crowning themselves 2017 National Champions, even though his team went home with the College Football Playoff trophy. Saban said...
quote:

...self-proclaimed is not the same as actually earning it.
On Wednesday, college football analyst Danny Kanell said the Crimson Tide didn't "earn" their title either...

This is all Auburn's fault. All they had to do was beat UCF. That's it.

Danny Kanell is an idiot, but saban should shut his pie hole about teams "deserving" or "earning" the National Championship. He's been the benefactor of being gifted the opportunity of competing for a NC without even winning his division twice in the last decade.

'Saban should shut his pie hole about teams "deserving" or "earning" the National Championship.' ... So Alabama didn't win the National Championship this season? I'm confused. 'He's been the benefactor of being gifted the opportunity of competing for a NC without even winning his division twice in the last decade.' - So who should have been in the National Championship games during those seasons? Sounds ... I don't know ... snowflakish to me maybe?

ColoBama, I don’t begrudge your titles but stick to facts. In 2011, Alabama didn’t win their division or conference and yet were controversially installed into the MNC game over Oklahoma State. It was certainly debated. Same thing this year. Bama didn’t win their conference or division and instead put it in the hands of a committee. Many, many people suggested that Ohio State’s resounding victory over Wisconsin and the title it brought them should have trumped Bama. It was hotly debated. But Alabama got the nod by the committee. Now, Alabama took those gifts and validated them. But there cannot be real debate that Alabama has greatly benefitted from the “benefit of the doubt” and has twice been afforded an opportunity to win a title without winning their conference or even their own division two times in seven years.

Wait, Kannell thinks Auburn was the best team in the SEC last year? Who knew?

Don't remember Kanell taking this stance when Ohio St won the Title not winning their division.

Do you remember Saban lobbying against OSU that year because they didn't win their conference? Saban is a two faced POS!

Glad that someone in the media is finally calling this out for what it is. Gumps got invited to a four-team tournament despite the fact at least four teams were more deserving.

But your definition of "more deserving" apparently is not correct. This has been hashed and talked about and debated for years.

DoubleDown, UA's life champion and defender. Shows up in every thread that throws shade on his football school and blames everyone else. Priceless.

Hahaha. It looks like this story has hit a nerve with DoubleDown.

I'll go cry on my 2017 National Championship shirt. Then I'll wash that one with my 2011 NC shirt.

Auburn was the best team in the SEC? Goddamn son.

When healthy, yeah, it's debatable. The LSU loss was the worse because they self-imploded.

Well it’s true to an extent... Cry baby arse Saban always gets his way.. Whether this past season or the season he cried to get back in the done when we should have been playing Oklahoma state instead yes it shows you can cry your fu#%ing way to the top

Still sore about 21-0 huh?
user avatar
DoubleDown92 months
Nope. You wanted to play Oklahoma State because you probably would've won. However, the BCS's objective was to pit the "2 best teams" against each other. Bama and LSU were the 2 best teams that year. Cry less. 21-0.

I love how he’s saying a team that didn’t win their conference can in fact be the best team in the conference. But only when it’s convenient to his argument

"Throwing shade at a university who ran the table and beat the best team in the SEC seems petty." He probably had a lot of people agreeing with him until claiming that Auburn was the best team in the SEC. Lol. The team that lost three regular-season games and got whipped by UGA with a playoff spot on the line? Give me a break.

So Western Michigan got hosed and should have been in the playoffs last year? And those undefeated TCU, Utah and Boise State teams should start hanging the banners? Got it.

The penis envy is strong. Still trying to talk Alabama's football program down to the level of your team. Imagine that. That is what losers do...then,now,and forever.

Auburn won the CFP before the CFP got started last year. Beat UGA, basically had a bye week, then beat UA then had to turn around and immediately beat UGA again. No team in the country would have pulled that Off last year

While impressive, you put us in this mess by losing to UCF in the post season

Settle down there paper champ. You won games at home then got embarrassed on a neutral field TWICE.

So, because the Patriots beat the NY Giants in the regular 2007 season, they're champions now and not NY Giants? I'm confused.
