Vanderbilt DBs coach Dan Jackson will take a "step back" from his role with the team as the university does an internal review of his recent Facebook comments that said Kanye West is...

A few days later, he issued an apology for being "careless" and showing "poor judgement." Vanderbilt athletic director Candice Lee has released a statement on how the school will handle this matter...

"Coach Jackson and I have agreed that he will step back from his responsibilities with the team during the Equal Opportunity and Access office's review."

While I agree with you, there is no law that says you can't fire people based on political beliefs. So unless Tennessee has a law or he has it in his contract, they are free to fire him (as best that I can tell).
