Vanderbilt was on FS1's 'Wake Up Barstool' Friday and confirmed that he was lobbying to play a 13th game this weekend to boost the team's College Football Playoff resume.

Lea specifically mentioned No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 12 Miami, and No. 15 Utah, and even said the Commodores would have traveled to make these games happen.

Lea also ripped the CFP selection process and format:

Poor Vandy. This was their one shot per century to make the playoffs.

While he may be correct that his team may be more deserving than some who make it in, the purpose of the expansion was to make sure that every team with a realistic chance of WINNING would be in (and to make ESPN more money). Also, if Vandy were to schedule a 13th game, wouldn't EVERY team just outside the bubble do that EVERY year? Where does that end?

"Well you see, Notre Dame has an ND on the side of for their helmet while Vanderbilt has a V on the side of theirs so the eye test obviously goes to Notre Dame."

I remember when Vandy canceled our Senior Day game because of ‘Covid.’ Frick vandy.

And got their asses handed to them the next year.

So we expand to 16 teams and teams 17 and 18 will still have a legitimate gripe.

I kind of can agree if it is a 4 team playoff or something but if you aren’t getting in because you are the 13th or 14th best team in the nation you have no real shot anyway.

Actually, the further you push it down, the smaller the gap is likely to be between the last one "in" and the first one "out."

Only two losses were to ranked opponents... He ain't wrong...
ND throws a wrench into this thing every year. They need to be in a conference.
Or just take out putting the Tulanes, in just because they're the highest non-conference that is part of the CFB

Playing another game was a good idea. Watch the CFP implement something like this for conference championship week in the future.
