On his Triple Option podcast, Urban Meyer wondered if the SEC is no longer head and shoulders above the sport's competition. He felt Notre Dame and Ohio State had "much better athletes" than Georgia and Tennessee in those CFP matchups. He made this declaration...
quote:

"Is the SEC's dominance over? It is. It's over," Meyer said. "Now, next year's another year. But for two years, it's over."

Here is a fast fact.. I don’t care if their dominance is over. All I care about is 1 team in the SEC. The rest can lose as far as I am concerned. Let’s geaux.

Kinda like his career.

Diluting the SEC’s talent pool and reducing its
numbers in the playoff pool to achieve parity in CFB are what NIL, the portal, and playoff expansion are about.

Had Georgia it’s starting QB, ironically, it could still have been possible for two SEC teams playing in the Championship with great gnashing of teeth. Texas still has a shot. It’s all about paying players now. Like it or not.

oh, well since Captain Heart issues says so, the SEC should just shut it all down.

People keep latching on to SEC dominance but the reality is it's over because the SEC can't hoard talent anymore. It's getting plucked to other conferences now. Bama/Georgia/etc. can't hold all the talent all the love is getting spread around now. Massive parity in NCAA. This is better for the sport. More exciting because anyone can win it now.
user avatar
Wrong. Now it's the rich schools hoarding all the talent while the Arkansas and Mississippi States of the world are getting the scraps.
user avatar
Which rich schools do you see dominating the sport right now? I hate to break it to you but the schools with money already were dominating the sport. Did you ever see the smaller universities make it to the championship? No. The difference now is because the depth is spread around you're seeing teams like Arizona State rise up. Who do you consider a rich school right now in the playoffs outside Texas? I think you have it backwards. No conference has dominance right now because nobody can hold depth. It's that simple.

No it's not, everybody outside the SEC is praying it's over

If UGA has their starting QB, the SEC would have 2 in the final four. Although I think Texas is way overrated. The Big ten is a joke. Out of 18 teams, maybe 4 have any sort of a pulse.

Pretty sure Urban Meyer won the first CFP with a 3rd string QB.
user avatar
Lol no. Carson Beck was embarrassed by Kentucky and Georgia Tech. He would have thrown six INTs against ND and lost bigly.

Recruiting rankings say otherwise. Now it's about keeping the kids after a season and not having them jump over to a B1G program

Correct. The schools with the most money are now the dominant schools.

Texas A&M has more money than any Big 10 school. Both in endowment and generally. This is a fact. The Big 10 is having a good year.
