This is the flavor of the month in a low-event reporting cycle for CFB. It will pass. The legal system will do what it does and come September, everyone will be focused on the season. There's a reason for the timing of the interview happening shortly after the NCG. The attorney is trying to pressure LSU and OLOL into settling. Personally, I hope they don't. I hope they push this thing out all the way so the whole truth comes out. LSU and Kelly just need to focus on having success on the field next year.

Damn, I had honestly forgotten about him. Hadn't thought about him since ESD and probably won't again until Michigan plays in a decent game next year that is televised.

Yeah and every SEC coach will talk about Greg Brooks in recruiting against LSU.
That will happen anyway, so it's a non issue when making the decision.

Either provide LSU fans with a competitive basketball program, or he is gone.
LOL, no. He isn't getting fired when the football is on an upswing, Baseball has already won a title and will compete for another this year, WBB has won a title and is top 6 currently, and other smaller sports have won titles recently (gymnastics, etc.)
Basketball is too far down the list of priorities by most LSU fans to create any issue for Woodward's job security.

No. The coach isn't qualified to make the call on if a player should have a medical procedure done. That's the trainer and medical staff's job. The press like to shite on Kelly, but this isn't on him.
The hospital will have a problem if there was negligence, but 39 days to go from dizzy and throwing up to recommending an MRI is not that long of a time, so I don't think LSU's medical staff did anything wrong. It's always easy to go back with hindsight, but vertigo can come from anything from dehydration to cancer and when an athlete gets dizzy and throws up, you don't immediately jump to brain tumor as a diagnosis unless symptoms persist, which they did, so they recommended the MRI.
The whole situation sucks. It's massively unfortunate for Greg and his family because that tumor was probably in his head for awhile before he ever had symptoms. I am not a brain surgeon, so I can't say if the doctor's did anything wrong, but I highly doubt OLOL assigned a completely unqualified surgeon into an emergency brain surgery. This is the type of surgery that you call in your most qualified and experienced team.
The main lesson to take away from this for everyone is that as an athlete, if you feel that your body is off, say something. If the medical staff don't take it serious enough for your comfort, take your health into your own hands and go get a second opinion.

Not sure if they will pay that for HS defensive players. They will spend what's necessary on portal players though.

Playoffs. This team, talent-wise should be good enough to get there and make noise.
re: How did Cam bring Auburn a title in 2010 but Jayden couldn’t do it at LSU in 2023?
Posted by TigerGrad03 on 1/23/25 at 12:53 pm
As good as Jayden was/is, Cam Newton at Auburn was better. Cam was a one-man wrecking crew and with Malzahn calling the hurry-up offense with him at QB, he was pretty much unstoppable. When you did stop him, he showed his superman, and became otherworldly. Pat Peterson runs a low 4.3 40 and I watched Cam pull away from him in the game that year on a TD run. The Iron Bowl that year, Bama was up 24-0. Didn't matter, Cam leads the comeback to win 28-27.
He's in the list of the top college players of all time for a reason.
I love LSU and I love Jayden. I hate Auburn, but you have to give credit where it's due and Cam was different. Think Jayden level speed and quickness, but an inch taller and 35-40lbs heavier.

re: Will WR Landon Ibieta find a school to play at??

HIs high school tape was good. He looked really quick. I am surprised he can't get a look at a place like Nicholls or McNeese
re: Do yall think Davhon Keys is ready to the mike LB in year 2?
Posted by TigerGrad03 on 1/20/25 at 10:48 am
Yes. If there is one position that Baker can find and develop talent well, it's at LB. I trust his judgement and he had Keys backing up Penn and playing a fair bit by year-end.
re: Nuss > Shedeur Sanders??
Posted by TigerGrad03 on 1/17/25 at 4:22 pm
Both are good. Both have faults right now. Nuss has the potential to be better depending on how he does in 2025.
Sanders holds the ball way too long. He would rather take a sack than take an incompletion. He has 40+ starts under his belt over the past 4 years. By comparison, Nuss has probably 15 starts. That said, Nuss has more starts against really good competition.
If I was a NFL GM, I am trading back out of #1 or I am take the Penn St. DE. I do not believe Sanders or Ward are franchise QBs.

re: 2011 defense or 2019 offense?
Posted by TigerGrad03 on 1/17/25 at 4:07 pm
The matchups favor 2019.
Claiborne and Mathieu would not shut down Chase and Jets. They would play them tough, but both those WRs would make some plays. Marshall on Simon would favor 2019 by a fair bit. CEH in the passing game would do well against Baker.
The 2019 LSU team played an offensive scheme that would've given any Chavis-run defense fits. The bend-but-don't-break didn't work well against the 2019 offense.
If we are being honest, 2019 LSU's offense is widely considered one of college football's best offenses of all time. While 2011 LSU's defense was great, they aren't considered by many to be GOAT status outside of the LSU fanbase.

There's no need to understate how legendary that defense was.
The secondary was legendary.
The LBs were not. Minter was awesome, but from an overall LB group, that was an average year for LSU.
The DL was really good, but they weren't legendary status like '03

What did he do?
Kelly insinuating ND didn't have the resources to win it all ticked him off and he spearheaded their NIL collective to get going.
Pretty much said ND had the resources, but Kelly's departure became a call to action to get it all in motion after he left.
In short, ND's ego got hurt when he walked and it triggered them to get in line with the rest of the successful programs.

If BK was really held in that regard to ND boosters, they would have retained BK and spent money when Woody was searching for a HC.
He didn't want to be at Notre Dame. Period. He still doesn't. He wanted to move on and he did. He left them in a prime position to sustain what he built there.
These ND media people and the small amount of fans that frequent this site still can't get past the fact that a very good coach who was enveloped in everything ND for over a decade could decide he doesn't like it anymore and just leave. It's jilted lover syndrome. They are like that ex that stalks you on social media for years and finally when they have something good happen they want to rub it in your face even though you haven't thought about them since you left.

Pre-Kelly Notre Dame (2003-2009) = 46-40 and 4 seasons at .500 or worse
Kelly at ND (2010-2021) = 113-40 and 1 season under .500 with 1 NCG appearance and 2 final four appearances
Kelly's last 5 years at ND before leaving for LSU = 54-9 with 2 playoff appearances.
Final Rankings:
2017 = #11
2018 = #5
2019 = #12
2020 = #4
2021 Week 15 = #5
To sit there and say a coach that did this was not a good fit is straight revisionist history. ND fans were pissed because Kelly didn't want to be there anymore. I am sure it hurt and the fact you're on an LSU message board a week before the NCG tells us you are still hurt.
No one here gives a rip about what ND did/does/will do. We just don't care about that program. Kelly's been gone for 3 years, just get over it and move on.
Also, don't try to sugar coat the fortuitous schedule ND has had this year in the regular season and playoffs. It's not their fault, but be honest about it.
