this is it. it will NEVER get better than what it is right now and if we are extremely lucky, maybe for the next couple of years. but this is it for your whole life before this and for the rest of it after this. enjoy it

I try to tell myself this all the time. I remember sitting in the hotel room in Indy after the game and thinking that we could lose to UF/tech/AU every year for the next 5 yeras and I wouldn't even care because it'd still be worth the tradeoff of how that moment felt. I truly didn't care what our record was the next year because 2021 was the pinnacle and nothing else mattered anymore. Then lo and behold we went 15-0 anyway.
As you said, there will never be another higher point in the history of UGA football other than what's happening right now. This is literally as good as it gets. I think our fans (myself included) would do well to keep that in perspective next time we don't covert a 3rd down or give up a TD.

What I'm trying to work on with myself is not looking ahead to other games later in the season and trying to enjoy the moment and enjoy each victory.
To each their own, but my brother is an always looking ahead Dawg fan, and Dawg fans like that are pretty fricking aggravating. "Yeah that was a good win, but what about when we play at Tennessee or play in the SECCG." Seems pretty joyless and pointless.
When you look ahead to other games later in the season, you're basically wishing time away and wishing the season away, and the season already is short enough and comes and goes before we know it!

Any negativity I have is only driven by the fear of the inevitable end of this run.

I don't know, man. Looking ahead is how I survived the Richt era....

I found myself thinking during the Auburn game that it couldn’t be allowed to end like that to a rival that shitty, which is bullshite because it will almost certainly end painfully. Even getting to a high enough level for fans to think like that is a privilege that fans of very few programs ever get to enjoy.

I was in fourth grade in 1980. Little boy me thought it would be like 1980-1983 forever.

During both the South Carolina and Auburn games I thought “We just had 2 magical years. It has to end somehow and I’m at peace with this.” Not that I wanted us to lose, I still want to see us go undefeated every single year, but I was born just a tad after 1980 and I had started to give up hope of ever seeing UGA win another Title. Seeing us win back to back and being there in person for the first one has made me pretty zen about football. At least, for a while. I’ll start to get cranky again when we start going 8-4 with an unexplainable loss or two thrown in there again.

Same. I really don’t want the run to end, but I have zero of the existential dread that used to accompany every Georgia loss.

Let's enjoy the ride, fellas.

and 40 years later it actually got better than 1980-1983.
granted, someone was probably saying that it would never get better than that stretch in the early 1980s just like im doing now.
the only difference is that they were wrong and im right.

I was 5-8. I just assumed that it what UGA football had always been like and would always be. There is a 6 year old kid out there right now thinking the same thing. Hope he doesn't have to sit through the equivalent of the 90s when he is a young man.

I can’t enjoy this ride as long as we have a white guy playing the edge.

Have been a Dawg since Fran the man, lived thru lots of ups and downs of UGA football, for over 60 years. This era is much like the years with #34. This is truly a great era, and much to be enjoyed, but its not the last great era. As long as Kirby is around Dawgs will be competing at the highest level.

I don't think we'll cease being great for a while, but I don't think we'll be at the highest pinnacle of 21/22/23(so far) probably ever. NIL and the portal have simply changed the game too muhc. Our 21 and 22 defense which were indescribably elite and propelled us to B2B don't happen 5 years from now. Nowadays a Jalen Carter or Jordan Davis aren't sitting around waiting their turn until they are upperclassmen to dominate. If they aren't starting by their SO year they're bolting for more money and more exposure. IT sucks arse but that's what the sport has become.

100%, we will always be an elite program due to our advantages and resources, but it's unrealistic to expect a run like '21 '22 and '23 to happen again in our lifetimes.
We are 39-1 since we lost to Florida in 2020. We could be 48-1 if they can run the table for the 3-peat. The statistics, records, and overall accomplishments from this run will easily be used as one of the standards for modern dynasties. Alabama set the gold standard with 6 titles in 12 years, but Kirby has built something that can get very close to that lofty level.
The documentary on this run will be pure crack cocaine.

Same here.
I thought “alright, we’ve just lost too many players over the last two years” and that the ride will probably end this year as there are some talented teams out there. And I’m good with that…nobody can take the last two years from us and at least it wasn’t in JH at Auburn. There’s a reason teams don’t repeat or much less threepeat. It takes a special mix of talent and leadership to do both and by year 3 a lot of those guys are gone. You literally have to start over from scratch.
So I’m okay if we get clipped this year…I hope it’s in the post season though by a great team IF it happens and NOT in Leyland.
But it would be shite loads better if we can win the whole damn thing again!

My son is 9 so this is basically his situation. As long as he can really remember Georgia has won 2 SEC championships and 2 nattys, and he has no idea that this isn’t how it always is. Ignorance is bliss.
