What was Pavia's ranking coming from NMST?

This guy was at NMST with Beck/Kill. He came with them to Vandy. He's been in this system a long time. He shouldn't be dismissed lightly.

Even a lightly used senior at QB (and several other positions) can be worth quite a few points more than his HS rating might suggest. With this new 5 year eligibility rule there are gonna be more players available in the portal every December/January. Most won't be top talent, because those will still go NFL after 3 or 4 seasons, but there will be more of them and they'll have experience/knowledge/maturity, which will further reduce the demand for players coming out of HS. That may be one reason Kirby's been cautious about over paying for HS talent in the 2027 class. An expensive 18 year old is an increasingly risky investment.

Negative. He was the Great White Hope who stuck with his commitment during the transition from Richt to Kirby and the major draw to 2016's 93K Day/G-Day.

Yah, 2015 was really a head scratcher. Richt seemed to mail it in when he started Batou at QB. I don't know what was up with Richt that year. Maybe he was burned out. I remember the Dawgvent was saying that he and Pruitt weren't seeing eye to eye and that Pruitt though Richt was too lax. The fact that he didn't have a QA recruit to come in after Mason was odd and we had to go get a sub-par transfer like Lambert. Just my thought, the 2012 SECCG seemed to kind of break Richt's spirit. There had been talking about firing Richt after 2010 and 2012 would have been his redemption. We would have played ND in the BCS title game.

We would've stomped a mudhole in ND in 2012, too, but that would've meant Richt likely stayed in Athens until his health issues forced him to step aside - likely 2021-ish.

You don't trade 2 CFP titles for a theoretical BCS MNC.

what was up was he hired the worst OC in school history at the time (debatable who was better btwn him and coley) and it completely torpedoed any fun or hopes we had. A pruitt defense can only do so much when you only score like 10 points a game.

I think that was a "back against the wall, we have no other choice" kinda situation. We knew what we had in lambert and he simply wasn't very good, so you figure hey maybe with 2 weeks to prep we give this new guy a chance and he sparks some life. What confounds me still (probably a schott issue if I had to guess) is that bauta was a dual threat but we called the same plays for him we would've with lambert. Head scratching.

recruiting isn't an exact science and we brought in some highly thought of dudes. They jsut stunk. You can miss on one QB class but you really can't afford to whiff on two in a row. In 13 Brice Ramsey was a 4*. In 14 Jacob Park was a 4*. Those guys just stunk. I would assume that we thought one of those guys woudl be the guy after Mason but it didn't take.

he definitely would've gotten the natty in 12, we would've killed ND. I happen to know for an absolute fact htat Richt was told after 2010 that he needed to win 10 games or the SEC east or he was getting let go, and lo and behold he did both. Idk if I'd say '12 fully broke him, considering we were elite in September of 2013. Then the injuries from hell hit and we lost 5 games. Then we get to 2014 and didn't win the east. I can buy into the notion that by 2015 he was checked out. It was definitely for the best for both of us to cut ties.

I remember seeing on message boards and hearing through the grapevine that McGarrity was going to go after Dam Mullen. Then, a few of the BIG money donors had a talk with Magic Mike, and walla!...Kirby is named HC.
