The game is special because of JAX. Not because of the opponent.

This is the part that the "move the game" crowd does not understand. The neutral site is the only reason this game gets the red carpet treatment from TV every year. #1 Georgia at unranked Florida at high noon on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins behind the mic would be a sad, sad, sad sight to see.

Yet it really isn't a neutral site

50/50 crowd split and their bus ride is probably longer than Georgia's plane flight. Air travel has improved quite a bit over the years.

How is 50% of the stadium not neutral? Whichever team is the best generally has more tailgaters but it definitely is neutral.

Even in our shite years we were 40% of stadium.

It is totally a neutral site. The stadium sitting closer to Gainesville does nothing to give UF an advantage other than their fans have a shorter drive.

The Dawgs' flight to JAX is equal to, if not shorter than, the Gators' bus ride into JAX. Georgia fans commit to the weekend and flood the coastal region with fans out the a-hole. And the stadium is 50/50 split every single year. So even though our fans have a longer ride into the JAX area, it's not like Georgia fans don't make the pilgrimage in mass.

What competitive advantage does the Florida football team draw from it being played in Jacksonville, that we also don't have?

Jacksonville is Gator Country and a 90 minute bus ride for them.

I lived there for 3 years or so. Plenty of Georgia fans in Jax.

As opposed to a 50 or so minute flight from Ben Epps to Jax Exec Airport.

I like the game in JAX but let's not act like the proximity to Gainesville is a small thing.

We lead the overall series.
The commute time for the teams is about the same.
And as for fans... the stadium is 30 miles from the state border.

If you are listing out factors in the game, proximity is about issue #100 (behind things like bye week, games before, etc..)

Well I get that proximity isn't the most important issue, but it is an issue to some extent since most Georgia folks are disproportionately concentrated in North Georgia.
I would love to see the 99 other reasons that are more deserving than "proximity."

Lol
Recruiting
Coaching
QB play
Health
Scripted plays
Halftime adjustments
Weather

The list can get pretty long.

Are you suggesting that the fans are tired from the commute? Lol

Athens doesn’t have a beach or even hotels you can stay game weekend. If fans matter for shite they will keep it in Jax.

When ESPN takes over totally, likely will be even more 12:00 games per reports.

Away games put you in shite seats. Pushing tailgates further away from campus and into decks. Most home games, can’t even sell tickets at what you have in them. Without Jax, season tix almost not worth it. Just pay 2x the amount for just the good games.

Please explain how JAX being 90 minutes away from Gainesville has any COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE on the game of football between UGA and UF.

For reference from my post that used logic and reasoning, and not misused US geography...

I'm a Metro Atlanta guy, but I've always viewed GA/FL as a bone thrown to the South Georgia Dawg fans. It's harder for them to get to Athens consistently, so this is a treat for the fans closer to the FL border.

What I'm saying is every year people bring up not wanting to play in Jacksonville, and every year location comes up as one of the "cons" against having it there, among other things. So while location may not be a good reason to you or me, plenty of other people don't see it that way. That's it.

You may be seeing comments that I don't see.

The only cons to the location in JAX that I read are this mythical assumption that 30 miles south of the Georgia border is a home field advantage for the Gators.

I disagree with that assumption entirely.

If I'm missing other arguments about the location being a problem, I'm all ears.

There is a large UGA fanbase in Florida as well. But agreed about your point for South Georgia Dawgs.

Awesome. Let’s schedule our home schedule around out of state fans

Any chance we can start playing Tennessee in Nashville every year to cater to tennadawags? Geniuses?
