D-Rob...why is he the #1 WR?

So, I realize this could fall under the 2016 recruiting thread, but it's really pretty specific. Why is D-Rob considered the #1 receiver in the class?

I ask this because he's listed at 6'0 (5'11.75 by some) and 175lbs, so elite size is not a factor. Are the intangibles really THAT spectacular?

Haven't been able to watch a ton of film on him, so just looking for others' thoughts.

Amari Cooper is about the same size...

Comparable, I suppose. He was 6'1, 185. But I feel like he was more of an anomaly. Not saying shorter receivers can't be big playmakers (obviously), but to see them be rated #1 when lacking elite size is unusual.

DR looked like the best offensive player on the field at the Army AA game.

JMO, of course, but he looked to me like he would see the field immediately at UGA.

Speed, vision, and elusiveness.

Simply having him on the field will force defenses to adjust accordingly. Not only will he be able to stretch the field (something we desperately need), a screen pass to this guy could easily turn into a big play.

Highlights

Homerun speed and can make guys miss. Just makes me think of MM's touchdown against Florida.

Hopefully we can have more of that.

All good. Don't get me wrong, I hope we land him. I was just curious about what separated him from guys like Terry Godwin.

He's way faster than Godwin. Probably not as instinctive. Elite athlete though. We don't have anyone like him athletically at WR.

Mecole Hardman can hold his own

I think Hardman wants to play DB.

Wasn't TGod listed with "athletes" instead of WRs?

Yes, but we utilize him as a receiver mostly and he fits the same size mold.

Think Deion Sanders, who was 6' 0" his freshman year.

Fair enough. And for the two dingbats who downvoted the OP, it's a legit question. Actually, D-Rob was rated a 4-star athlete by 247 last July, so I don't think the question is really that far out there. I'm really just used to expecting the top receiver to be a guy on a 6'3 or better frame since that's the current trend.

BTW, watching those highlights, I feel more like I'm watching an ATHLETE, not a RECEIVER. He's clearly pretty versatile.

Think something along the lines of DeSean Jackson

I think these are all pretty good comparisons. Dez Bryant sorta comes to mind, too, though D-Rob appears a little faster.

As far as the size concern goes, that is always a bit of a tradeoff. Big receivers are more able go up and get a ball while shorter receivers have better change of direction. There is a place for both types in basically every offense.

Linebackers have a hard time guarding small, quick receivers. Just look at the Patriots' offense for the last several years.

Robertson is neither short or tall but his athleticism is amazing. If he enrolls at Georgia I'm gonna be celebrating a lot of great plays.

Good point, Whiz.

Like I said, I was just curious. I appreciate those of you who actually offered some insight.
