Numbers are getting bad. Here's some humor I ran across another site-

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO’S ‘WHO’S BEEN VACCINATED?’
Bud: ‘You can’t come in here!’
Lou: ‘Why not?’
Bud: ‘Well because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But I’m not sick.’
Bud: ‘It doesn’t matter.’
Lou: ‘Well, why does that guy get to go in?’
Bud: ‘Because he’s vaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But he’s sick!’
Bud: ‘It’s alright. Everyone in here is vaccinated.’
Lou: ‘Wait a minute. Are you saying everyone in there is vaccinated?’
Bud: ‘Yes.’
Lou: ‘So then why can’t I go in there if everyone is vaccinated?’
Bud: ‘Because you’ll make them sick.’
Lou: ‘How will I make them sick if I’m NOT sick and they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘But they can still get sick.’
Lou: ‘So what the heck does the vaccine do?’
Bud: ‘It vaccinates.’
Lou: ‘So vaccinated people can’t spread covid?’
Bud: ‘Oh no. They can spread covid just as easily as an unvaccinated person.’
Lou: ‘I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore. Look. I’m not sick.
Bud: ‘Ok.’
Lou: ‘And the guy you let in IS sick.’
Bud: ‘That’s right.’
Lou: ‘And everybody in there can still get sick even though they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Certainly.’
Lou: ‘So why can’t I go in again?’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘I’m not asking who’s vaccinated or not!’
Bud: ‘I’m just telling you how it is.’
Lou: ‘Nevermind. I’ll just put on my mask.’
Bud: ‘That’s fine.’
Lou: ‘Now I can go in?’
Bud: ‘Absolutely not?’
Lou: ‘But I have a mask!’
Bud: ‘Doesn’t matter.’
Lou: ‘I was able to come in here yesterday with a mask.’
Bud: ‘I know.’
Lou: So why can’t I come in here today with a mask? ….If you say ‘because I’m unvaccinated’ again, I’ll break your arm.’
Bud: ‘Take it easy buddy.’
Lou: ‘So the mask is no good anymore.’
Bud: ‘No, it’s still good.’
Lou: ‘But I can’t come in?’
Bud: ‘Correct.’
Lou: ‘Why not?’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But the mask prevents the germs from getting out.’
Bud: ‘Yes, but people can still catch your germs.’
Lou: ‘But they’re all vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Yes, but they can still get sick.’
Lou: ‘But I’m not sick!!’
Bud: ‘You can still get them sick.’
Lou: ‘So then masks don’t work!’
Bud: ‘Masks work quite well.’
Lou: ‘So how in the heck can I get vaccinated people sick if I’m not sick and masks work?’
Bud: ‘Third base.’
End...scene...

?? Well done and unfortunately very accurate but lost on those pushing the narrative at all costs.

I'm just wondering why they haven't announced they are limiting capacity at games and requiring masks. The COVID #'s are worse this year. I'm glad they haven't but maybe they realize having limited capacity will put the final nail in the coffin on a lot of local college town businesses(one that are left after last year). I just don't get why they completely shut things down(including cancelling the final 4)in April 2020 to reduce the curve; and now it's ok to have 100k people crowded in Penn State stadium.

In my opinion it is because the bad man is gone now.

You may be right. I'm still concerned at the potential impact. My wife and I were just discussing this last night. They have lost four patients since Tuesday of last week, not directly due to covid, but because they needed higher levels of care than the hospital they were admitted to could offer and there was nowhere to move them to. Sadly, one of the patients did finally get an opening at Emory, but they passed before they could be transported. I'm afraid a lot of folks are going to be in for a rude awakening if this doesn't start getting better soon.

There's some good numbers coming out the last couple days, but it's too soon for me to detail it- I don't want to jinx it. We could be over the hump...

I really hope the mid-September peak they’ve been talking about will be a thing and we start seeing it decline again.

I think that’s what happened. And the testing is all over the place skewing numbers . How did I just sleep in a bed with my wife who had covid the past 12 days. She had it. She was sick no smell or taste fever whole nine. She tested positive. I have had no symptoms and tested negative. Same for my daughter.

I’m sure. But lockdowns aren’t needed. People giving a damn and at least trying to follow some basic guidelines would be super helpful, though.

Natural immunity (antibodies) vs vaccine

For some reason, those that have natural immunity by contracting and recovering from the coronavirus are being left out of the conversation. It’s only vaxxed vs non-vaxxed.

Not sure why folks keep saying this. It’s been discussed plenty, but the issue with natural infection is antibody response has been a crap shoot. It CAN last for over 10-12 months. It also CAN disappear in as little as three or less months. There’s no way to know which group any person will be in which is why vaccination, which tends to elicit a more predictable, robust response, is still recommended. Even for those who have already had Covid (who end up with the best possible protection of any group).

post a link to a study that shows the vaccine lasts longer (they’re already promoting booster shots), and your comment that vaccines offer a more robust response than natural immunity has no basis in fact. Did you read the article I posted?

I haven't seen one done yet. Best bet for reason there is there isn't enough data yet to show durability drop offs for all age groups. I do know that there has been study on effectiveness of antibodies produced via natural infection vs vaccine and that the early results seem to indicate the vaccine trains better for new variants compared to those naturally acquired via infection. Did YOU read the article you posted? The only natural immunity being discussed there is from infections in January and February of this year. Not prior. Those people were subjected to a newer variant than the vaccines were based on. As the virus continues to change, neither vaccine nor natural immunity will hold up quite as well. That study also clearly states that their conclusions are in contrast to the other existing studies and it has yet to be reviewed.

And wtf is wrong with you people and boosters? Who in the actual frick thinks either form of protection is permanent? Do you get your dog a rabies vaccine once and call it a day? Have you only ever had one tetanus shot? I assume you don’t get a flu vaccine, but you understand that’s a yearly deal due to changes in the strain, yes? Where do you folks form these unrealistic expectations? And fwiw, I can confirm my antibodies haven’t dropped since April and I know others who have maintained very high levels since the trials last spring. Believe what suits you. If you’ve had the virus, I don’t necessarily think you need the vaccine anytime soon, but eventually a smart person would get a dose. If you had Covid last year, I wouldn’t bank on much protection at this point, but that’s your call. Regardless, the game plan shouldn’t be “let’s just get everybody sick and reach herd immunity naturally.” That’s insane.

I didn't want to jinx it last week but I think I can safely say GA is over the hump on this particular wave now.

Also, the daily new hospitalizations I have been tracking on the side are down from a high of 301 a week ago to 240 today (7 day moving average).

The sad part, though, is looking at that curve and knowing 42% of GA was vaxxed but this one shot up even faster than the "long dark winter" when nobody was vaxxed.

Edit- also kids demo dropping like a rock too. Not sad.
