How much of a say does McGarrity/UGA have in this situation? Honest question.

Morehead just said it will change starting in 2020. Auburn for Tennessee.

Unreal.

Maybe McGarity will have a ring made to commemorate himself as 2019 Ankle Grabbing Champion.

If we didn’t at least get two straight years of Auburn at home to rest 2012 and 2013 then I have no idea how this was agreed to by UGA in good conscience.

At least we’re helping Tennessee out too by putting our game with them further away from TSIO.

This seems like a losing proposition for Tennessee too. Their November has traditionally been relatively easy and now they have to actually play a good team (Vandy and Kentucky jokes aside)

Hurts them that their schedule isn’t a joke. Helps them in the sense that all their tough games aren’t at the same time.

If we make it to SEC Championship Game, we get to play it in-state an hour up the road every single time. Sometimes even for playoff Peach bowls or National championship games.

Sometimes you get a break, sometimes you don’t. Boo hoo whoa is ME!!!

I bet there’s a recruiting angle to this too. It can be used to say Auburn couldn’t handle UGA and begged to move the game.

I’m so god damn irritated with the school right now. Motörhead and McGarity make us look like a bunch of pansies

The one thing I don't understand.... and we need this on the record....

Was Tennessee bitching about having to play UGA and Bama in the same month for all these years, and they colluded with Auburn to take the fall and request a swap?

If Auburn asked for this, I highly, highly, highly doubt the SEC just said okay without asking McGarity first.

Seeing them parade this as some sort of massive victory is so strange. Probably just trolling but I don’t get it.

Let's review:
1. Auburn never actually had to play AL and GA back to back. There was always an Auburn cupcake week in between
2. Auburn still has to play AL and GA away every two years going forward
3. This saves TN an early season arse whopping each year
4. GA gets nothing in return
5. McGarity gets a raise for negotiating this this wart

coaches have very little say in this kind of thing.

“They had their reasons for doing it,” Morehead said of the SEC. “I suppose if I was looking at the schedule, the key for me is asking if our head coach is happy with the schedule. Has our athletic director vetted it properly? All those things have been done. We’re concerned with having our off weeks, making sure we preserve our off week before Florida. … But I really defer to Coach Smart on those sorts of things.”

This. It doesn't benefit Georgia in any way, shape or form. For this reason alone, McGarity should have hung up the phone after about 5 seconds.

I believe that the schedule change will benefit both UGA and Auburn at the expense of Alabama.

I've never worried about Auburn--it doesn't matter when we play them.

Going against SEC weakling Tennessee late is better.

Change is good.
