.....oh ok. just funny how those that "saw it coming" never mention it before it happens. Would be pretty big news to know that a certain player is trending toward getting kicked off the team. I dont even remember it being brought up when he was arrested. It certainly wasnt when he committed. In fact, most ppl were excited when he committed.

Are there any other players we should be worried about?

Wasn't he part of the Fields clique causing problems last year?

Again... where are all the people you're saying "saw it coming" specifically? I mean, where are the people saying "I knew he was gonna get kicked off the team"? I'm really not following all the threads, so it's certainly possible that it happened, but it doesn't seem to be a common take from what I have seen... rather what I said. The kid had attitude problems that were known before he ever committed to UGA. In fact, many of the "insiders" even said if we didn't get him, it might be a blessing in disguise.

And as to why no one would have been able to predict it, one might take a slight clue from the fact that it came 3 days after camp and is rumored to be a combination of poor attitude/work ethic and him getting surpassed on the depth chart and not reacting well... no one can predict where a kid is gonna be on the depth chart prior to practices starting... So even if there are people who "saw it coming", how were they supposed to know explicitly that he was trending toward removal when practices began on Friday?

It's generally called a "confluence of events"... You can know that he's been acknowledged as an attitude problem (which *has* been documented for months) without knowing that attitude problem would surface as he finds himself falling down a depth chart. Maybe that's just me? And I didn't even claim to know it was coming.

He has had attitude and substance problems. He got into a near fist fight with a senior team captain during a game last year. He was very close with Justin Fields and also almost went to Ohio State where Justin now is, and has almost certainly been hearing lots of “grass is greener” talk.

So yes, there was ample circumstantial evidence that makes this event not overly surprising.

With that said, the dude started many games for us as a true freshman. Moreover, he had the frame to grow into a down lineman, which continues to be a position of desperate need for us. So it is a big loss.

I think he ends up at Tennessee or Ohio State and has a very productive college career and likely a decent stint in the NFL.

Wouldn’t he have to sit two years?

That's probably the more upsetting angle here... there are not as many bodies that can handle that role right now. We can probably start to offset that with some of the 2020 pickups, but not going to help us this year...

With that said, if he was causing problems *and* had been surpassed on the depth chart as has been indicated, it may not be as big of a loss as it seems on the surface. As I've said, I'd rather he just got his shite together and put in the work, but I'd rather lose him now, than after we waste a ton of reps on the kid through the fall camp and then him bolt 1-2 games into the season.

We'll see on the productive career. He certainly has the raw talent for it, but if the work ethic isn't there, a change of scenery doesn't necessarily mean he'll get it done either. Just might be an easier path to playing time...

I saw on my Google news feed overnight that perhaps Radi jumped the gun trying to be the first to report. Apparently Cox is in the transfer portal and his future with the program “uncertain”.

If any of you who are better connected can confirm dismissal vice being disciplined and taking his ball and going to a new home, I’m sure we would all be very appreciative.

I'm sure that isnt the whole story.

Jordan Jenkins played outside and covered up. It is part of the position when the team is doing well and force 2nd/3rd and longs.

The entire argument for Cox at UGA was that he can put his hand in the dirt when we are in nickel.

If cross-training was a part of Cox leaving, then that is very short-sighted.

I hope this is just a rumor...

Also, no way he could play without a waiver correct?

I've heard the rumor a few places at this point (who knows if it all stemmed from this UF board post though), so it's certainly possible.

I can't see a scenario where he could get a waiver, nor do I see UGA offering any sort of supporting documentation/evidence to help him obtain a waiver to go play at UF.
