According to Radi Nabulsi at Rivals.

That’s not good.

ETA: will update with cause when it’s uncovered

I don’t know what he did this time but likely an attitude issue. Brenton hasn’t been the most willing to comply with coaches demands since he arrived on campus. This likely serves as a last straw broken and as a shot across the bow for the rest of the team to get on board or get the frick out. We can’t afford to have the inmates divide the asylum like last season

Thanks for the update guys. It’s a crying shame these super talented guys can keep their shite wired tight for three years. So who’s gonna get his snaps?

Definitely agree with that. Sucks that our 2018 recruiting class has already lost 3 top 50ish players, but when you recruit well, you can live with it.

I think Johnson and Azeez coming on made this call easier whereas they really had no choice but to deal with it last year

If it really is a character thing, hopefully this is another case of addition by subtraction.

What snaps? Ojulari and Johnson were ahead of him and there are plenty of guys who would have seen the field before Cox.

We’re stacked at the hybrid DE/OLB position. Ojulari had already passed him up, and then Nolan Smith and/or Jermaine Johnson have been great as well. Not worried about it.

Yeah... I suppose if we're going to take a hit at a position, OLB/Edge was certainly acceptable. Not optimal... but acceptable.

Crazy, he was gonna see some PT regardless of rather he started or not.

Not a much of a loss unless we get a freakish amount of injuries at the posistion.

Sadly, a LOT of people called this before he flipped to us. All through his recruiting process, people were saying there were some attitude concerns, and that if we didn't land him, it might not be the worst thing. Sucks... Kid is a really talented athlete, but have to get your head on right in college to do anything with it.

I don't mean for this to come off as sour grapes now that he's gone, but given the number of snaps he saw last year I really wasn't that impressed with him, tbh.

eta: compared to other freshmen OLBs like Floyd, Jordan Jenkins, and Lorenzo Carter.

Cox was useless against Hurts in the SECCG. Maybe losing him is for the best.
