I thought this was still the #3 class with less commits than #4.

Oh well, it's still part of the best string of classes in school history.

You guys are being Mark Richt-era pansies.
Nah, we just don't throw away our UGA fan merchandise when they lose a game.

quote:

If #4 is good enough for you then you have low expectations for this program.
You're right. We should fire Smart for his #4 class.

quote:

BAMA #1 again because BAMA doesn't piss away winnable games
Actually, they do. It's just rare.

quote:

or whine cause their starting QB is injured.
The fans whine about everything, including when their starting QB is injured. It's human nature.

Their starting QB doesn't usually have to win them anything because they consistently have one of the best WR groups, best OL groups, and best RBs in the country (due to consistently great recruiting classes). They can have a game manager behind center and still win games because they have the talent elsewhere to score points and to prevent other teams from scoring.

quote:

BAMA comes prepared every week and never has an off game.
They've had several "off" games throughout Saban's tenure where they didn't seem prepared coming out. It isn't their preparation alone that makes them great, though. They've got great talent, coaching, and ability to make adjustments at the half. Why do you think we've had the lead against them several times at the half only to fall short against them in the end?

quote:

BAMA gets #1 overall recruiting classes despite the fact that their school is less desirable than UGA.
To who? We've been on the upswing over the Smart era but Bama is a legitimate playoff contender every single year. That's why they get the #1 class. They earn elite recruits with their championships and they earn championships with their elite recruits. Wealth builds upon itself. We haven't won a championship so while we may be more appealing than we were a few years ago to recruits, we still aren't Bama.

quote:

BAMA is easily going to win another championship. BAMA will have kids go in the first round.
Yeah, and that's why they attract elite recruits.

quote:

THAT is excellence, THAT is the standard we should judge on.
We haven't earned that status yet.

quote:

I can tell you BAMA fans would be livid if they had the #4 overall class.
They are on their way to another playoff berth and likely a championship appearance if not victory. When we start performing at Bama's level consistently, I'll be disappointed with a #4 class. We aren't there yet.

You seem to think our program is on par with one that's been winning national championships consistently (or appearing in the championship game) since these 18-year-old kids were learning how to throw a football. We are not. We don't have a complete team, though we are closer now that we have a decent QB to compliment our maturing receivers and running game.

Guy is just insufferable. We were one play away from a NC multiple times in past decade. Doesn't matter if we had one or two more five stars and the big time players also weren't necessarily the biggest contributors in those games. To act like we have to be in the top 2-3 each year to win a NC is asinine. We've been #1 recruiting class multiple times and have lost multiple times. Sometimes you just need experience and time to get to the top of the mountain. See Clemson.

Grow up.

Besides recruiting rankings are very arbitrary. Who is to say the #4 class is less than the #1 class? You don't know what these kids will do until they suit up. Top 5 is right where we want to be to build on our success, with our OC and Kirby the wins are on the way.

Class is excellent considering numbers but recruiting rankings are pretty good indicators of future wins and losses. I think we were about 5 or so last year on ESD, no? By NSD what was it, 2? 1? Outside of Alabama no one is recruiting at a higher level than UGA.....and the recruiting “gap” is not that great....getting the most out of those classes is the difference and in my opinion Smart and company has room for improvement there. Being merely satisfied with the #4 class is indicative of where Smart has the fan base expectations....10 years ago we’d be dancing down Milledge Avenue.....

It’s really about being in the top 3-5 consistently and finding the guys that are highly ranked but also fit your system. UGA has fewer commitments than any of the 3 classes above them.

Is the username 'Chainsaw Massaquoi' supposed to be a dig at Massaquoi for losing a hand in an ATV accident?

Am I missing something did they cancel February signing? Did they close down the transfer portal? We have 5 scholarships to go shopping for grown men now. Arik Gilbert being #1 on that list.

All you have to do is click on my profile and see that I had the username 7 years before the Massaquoi injury.

Currently the #3 Composite class which includes one of these guys. Will this make you happy?

I just saw the USCe class. They're behind Liberty, Georgia State, and all of the military schools.

I don't even understand how that happens.

I somewhat agree with this. But the missing ingredient has been a really good QB. This year highlights this a lot. Daniels appears to solve this for next year, and hopefully Beck or Vandegriff once Daniels is gone. We should temper this by realizing that Daniels has been playing against MState, South Carolina and Missouri. He does seem to have the "it" factor, though.

Right now (I'm not sure what happened to change the rankings....because it was showing us at #4) we are at #3. You are right, though. We would be deliriously happy several years ago. We also have several big time targets still out there with Terrion Arnold, and if Arik Gilbert decides to leave LSU we could add him.

I would still like to add another S,CB and a DT, though. (Arnold could fill the safety need, if we can get back in it for him)

I am wondering if we have looked at Tywone Malone who is committed to Ole Miss, and what the story on him is. He could possibly develop into a big run stopping DT.

They'll need to be. If Auburn hits a homerun with their coach they could go big in February signings and hit he portal to fill outstanding needs. if they strike out they could be in really big trouble for the next few years.

South Carolina? I could see them dropping back to pre Spurrier and Lou Holz days. They are in serious trouble.
